Another week, another massive Destiny 2 blog post from Bungie. This week, the studio outlined its planned super and ability changes coming along side the 30th Anniversary Pack release in December. One of the biggest changes is coming to the cooldown timers for abilities and supers, which now have completely seperate cooldown timers. The changes aim to prevent supers from all becoming available at the same time during Crucible matches, causing a round of chaos as everyone activates them.

In addition to ability and super changes, Bungie is making changes to various subclasses as well including nerfing stasis crystals and the ability for Shatterdive hunters to one shot frozen enemy guardians. Titan Shoulder Charges no longer one shot guardians at full health either, though Warlock melee attacks have been improved and should now be able to compete with Titans and Hunters, though the range has been nerfed slightly as well.

However, there's still a few weeks left before these changes arrive. Speaking of arrivals, the weekend exotic gear merchant known as Xur has once again made his return to Destiny 2 with a new set of Legendary and Exotic gear for purchase. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic gear he's brought for the weekend of November 19, 2021.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players will need to head to the Tower hangar to find Xur overlooking the snowy mountains.

From the default landing zone, immediately head to the left and following the path down into the Hangar. After entering the hangar, head left again past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit crew and up a metal stair case. Xur is standing on a metal platform at the back of this room overlooking the mountain ranges below.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

In Season of the Lost, Xur's role has expanded as the exotic merchant has weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

With Season 15, Xur is now selling even more gear outside of his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Better yet, the stat rolls are pretty solid on the Black Armor gear for this week.

Exotic Armor

Aeon Soul - Warlock gauntlet

At one point, the Aeon Soul was regarded as one of the worst exotics in the game, along with the other Aeon Cult items for Hunters and Titans. Thankfully, buffs and a rework by Bungie has completely transformed how these exotic gauntlets and the Aeon set items work for the better. While they're still not top tier gear, they're infinitely more useful than they were, even being valuable on difficult activities like Nightfalls.

Instead of a unique perk, this armor now has specific Aeon mods that can be equipped. Sect of Force is for damage dealers, temporarily increasing player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fireteam members a burst of grenade and melee energy. Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gaining full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing. Finally, Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.

It may not be the best item, but it's certainly more viable than it was originally. However, the roll this week is incredibly high at a total of 67, with really high resilience and discipline, with above average recovery as well.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +2
  • Resilience +18
  • Recovery +14
  • Discipline +23
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +8

Young Ahamkara's Spine - Hunter gauntlet

Young Ahamkara's Spine is back on sale with Xur over the next few days. A neutral class exotic, it really only benefits players who enjoy using tripmine grenades. It comes with an exotic perk called Wish-Dragon Teeth, which increases tripmine grenade duration and blast radius. Better yet, any damage done with the ability returns bonus tripmine grenade energy.

Again, the perk can be useful but overall, the exotic gear isn't valued as highly as some other Hunter gear. It's hard to recommend this week but under the right circumstances, these gauntlets can really come in handy. Unfortunately, the gear this week has the worst roll of the three, so it's likely players already have something a bit better.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +15
  • Resilience +13
  • Recovery +3
  • Discipline +10
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +17

Ursa Furiosa - Titan gauntlets

At one point, the go to exotic for Sentinel TItans, the Ursa Furiosa has seen a couple of nerfs in the past few years. Most recently being impacted by Bungie's decision to nerf super generating exotics that arrived alongside the current Season of the Lost.

Regardless, Ursine Guard is the intrinsic perk which enables the player to move faster when guarding with Sentinel Shield. However, the best part of this perk is that blocked damage will convert into additional super energy once the super ends, similar to other class exotics like the Shards of Galanor for Hunters. As previously mentioned, the returned energy has a cap now, so it's not nearly as useful as it was previously. The roll on these this week is solid, though nothing super noteworthy.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +15
  • Resilience +4
  • Recovery +14
  • Discipline +12
  • Intellect +8
  • Strength +9

Exotic Weapon

The popular grenade launcher Fighting Lion is back in stock this week. Its intrinsic perk is called Delayed Gratification, allowing players to hold the trigger and then release it to detonate the grenade. The grenades can also bounce off surfaces, allowing for some very tricky shots. Its trait is Thin the Herd which makes direct hits do more damage to shields, while rapid kills to grenade damaged enemies refill the magazine. Finally, kills with this weapon always drop primary ammo.

The biggest thing this weapon has going for it is that it doesn't take up a heavy slot like most Grenade launchers. Instead it sits in the energy slot, freeing up players to continue using a legendary heavy weapon of their choice. This is also a weapon that likely won't be for everyone as its delayed detonation requires a bit of skill to fully master. However, for those who can get the hang of it, the gun can be very rewarding and fun to use.

Additional perks:

  • Countermass
  • Implosion Rounds
  • Short-Action Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's exotic stock in Destiny 2 for November 19, 2021:
