It was certainly an exciting week for Destiny 2 players as the long awaited Season of the Splicer finally arrived in full. Already, players have been delving into the new content, it's ongoing storyline with the Fallen and Vex, as well as discovering all of the near gear and weapons. In just a short time, the Vault of Glass will also finally make its return to the series.

For all of the good, this week also experienced plenty of bad. Following the update, Destiny 2 struggled with the surge of players, resulting in a slew of errors and server related problems which significantly limited the amount of players who were able to experience the new content. Thankfully, Bungie was able to eventually wrangle up the problems a few hours later, and after a slight headache, the community is once again in the game.

This weekend also marks the first appearance of the exotic merchant Xur over the next few days, with many players hoping he'll be bringing something new with him. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he's currently selling for the weekend of May 14, 2021 inside of Destiny 2.

Where is Xur?

For the first time in a while, Xur is not at the Tower. Instead, players should head to Watcher's Grave on Nessus to find the merchant up the massive tree towards the back of the zone.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher's Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur's role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur's three gear pieces this weekend:

Skull of Dire Ahamkara - Warlock helm

The Skull of Dire Ahamkara was once the cream of the Warlock exotic crop. Bungie felt the item was too strong, however, and a nerf has made this helm a shadow of what it once was. It's armor perk is Actual Grandeur which not only provides additional damage resistance when casting Nova Bomb, but kills grant super energy.

Naturally, this is a Voidwalker specific armor piece, but due to recent nerfs its hard to recommend over some other choices that Warlocks have access to like Nezarec's Sin or Contraverse Hold. However, this week's roll is incredibly high at 66. That alone makes this item worth checking out.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +14
  • Resilience +17
  • Recovery +3
  • Discipline +8
  • Intellect +17
  • Strength +7

Ophidia Spathe - Hunter chest armor

The frequently seen Ophidia Spathe is back in stock with Xur for Hunter players. Scissor Fingers is its unique perk which grants Hunters two throwing knives instead of the typical one.

For those who enjoy rolling the Gunslinger subclass, the Ophidia Spathe synergizes particularly well with the Way of a Thousand Cuts and Gambler's Dodge. It essentially allows the player to nearly continuously throw knives. This week's edition is also high in strength for those looking to create a build with that value. Either way, this is a solid, if unspectacular exotic for Hunters this week.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +17
  • Resilience +10
  • Recovery +7
  • Discipline +7
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +20

Mask of the Quiet One - Titan helmet

For thos who missed it last weekend, Mask of the Quiet One is back in stock again. This week however has a 64 stat roll, which is pretty good and may be worth checking out again.

Outside of that, nothing much has changed as it is still a subclass neutral item, meaning it can be equipped and used with any Titan subclass. It's unique perk is called Dreaded Visage with provides ability energy when the player is damaged. When they're critically damaged, kills regain maximum health. In the current meta, this is a viable option for Titans, though it's worth noting that this item only restores the red bar health and not the shields like the One Eyed Mask. Getting into close range battles, this item will likely shine as it keeps players alive and filled with ability energy. It's a useful item but certainly not required at this point.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +2
  • Resilience +14
  • Recovery +18
  • Discipline +17
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +11

Exotic Weapon

The Fate of All Fools is the scout weapon's intrinsic perk, giving bonus damage to players that can land a precision shot after chaining multiple body shots on an enemy. This also returns ammo to the magazine as well. Zen Moment, the other unique perk, also gives bonus stability when the weapon causes damage to an enemy.

destiny 2 the jade rabbit

At the start of this season, it's unknown where Scout Rifles fall within the meta, outside of Dead Man's Tale. For skilled players, The Jade Rabbit can be a force. At the end of the day, this weapon may not suit everyone, but it's worth a look for those who can master the art of the headshot or want to take it into specific Crucible modes like Momentum which has finally returned to the game this season.

Additional perks:

  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Armor-piercing Rounds

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for May 14, 2021:
