The past few weeks of Destiny 2 has been very content heavy, with new missions and the return of the Vault of Glass raid dominating headlines. However, this week was a major step up on the storytelling side of the game, an aspect that has slowly been getting better over the past few seasons. This week saw Saint-14 and Mithrax together, with the House of Light Kell revealing the their version of tale of the Saint. Bungie showed players an animated cutscene detailing how the Fallen view Saint and his previous crusade of destroying their race.

While Bungie appears to be firing on all cylinders with storytelling this season, the studio also made one of the biggest sandbox changes in quite a while. The hotly debated Stasis subclass was hit with significant nerfs this week, attempting to bring the popular abilities back in line for PvP modes like Crucible. All three subclasses were heavily impacted and will likely see a big usage decline going forward.

In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur has once again brought his exotic wares to the world for players to check out over the next few days. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he's currently selling for the weekend of June 4, 2021 inside of Destiny 2.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players will want to be climbing large trees on Nessus to find the exotic merchant.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher's Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur's role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur's three gear pieces this weekend:

Eye of Another World - Warlock helm

With Eye of Another World, players get the Cerebral Uplink perk which highlights priority targets while also improving the regeneration speed of the grenade, melee, and Rift abilities.

For players who don’t have this item, it's a decent option for PvE or PvP. When using mods that target regeneration rates, this exotic can help players get their abilities much faster than normal. It's not a must have item, but it can be a decent choice. It's worth noting that this item doesn't actually provide wall hacks like the Nightstalker Hunter gets, only visible enemy targets are highlighted in red. The major hold up for most players is likely going to be due to the really poor intellect stat.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +7
  • Resilience +2
  • Recovery +22
  • Discipline +17
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +11

Young Ahamkara's Spine - Hunter gauntlet

A neutral class exotic, Young Ahamkara's Spine really only benefits players who enjoy using tripmine grenades. It comes with an exotic perk called Wish-Dragon Teeth, which increases tripmine grenade duration and blast radius. Better yet, any damage done with the ability returns bonus tripmine grenade energy.

Again, the perk can be useful but overall, the exotic gear isn't valued as highly as some other Hunter gear. It's hard to recommend this week but under the right circumstances, these gauntlets can really come in handy especially when using the middle tree Gunslinger class. For those looking to upgrade, the stat roll on the gear this week is pretty high, though Intellect is pretty low.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +12
  • Resilience +3
  • Recovery +17
  • Discipline +13
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +17

Crest of Alpha Lupi - Titan chest armor

It's been well over a year, but the extremely rare Crest of Alpha Lupi is finally in stock with Xur. This Titan armor comes with with the Survival Well perk. Essentially, when Barricade is active, the armor will generate 1 additional Orb of Light from supers as well as a healing pulse.

This is more of a defensive item so it has more value when tackling challenging content thanks to its healing pulse and orb generation abilities. When low on health, the Titan can put up a barricade for protection which then procs a healing burst to instantly gain health back. This gear is viable in all aspects of Destiny 2, though it really shines in activities like The Ordeal, Dungeons, and even Master and Grandmaster difficulty content.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +13
  • Resilience +11
  • Recovery +8
  • Discipline +8
  • Intellect +6
  • Strength +16

Exotic Weapon

Last year, Hard Light was largely regarded as the strongest weapon in Destiny 2, including competitive events like the Crucible. It was favored by most players for its rapid fire, high damage, and near zero recoil. As these things tend to go, the nerf hammer finally fell on the weapon, reducing it's effectiveness. These days, the weapon is largely outclassed by other auto rifles in the game, making it hard to recommend. The changing elemental damage is helpful at times, so the gun remains serviceable.

Hard Light basically shoots lasers thanks to its Intrinsic perk, Volatile Light. Rounds fired from the weapon have reduced damage falloff, over penetrate targets, and ricochet of hard surfaces. The more they ricochet, the more damage they inflict.

Additional perks:

  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Alloy Magazines
  • Composite Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for June 4, 2021:
