For now, things are largely the same inside of Destiny 2 as they have been since the Beyond Light expansion delay. With an extra 50 days to fill, it's likely that the Season of Arrivals has been stretched out a bit, with expected quests like the second part of the Exodus mission, getting pushed further out to help fill the time. Thankfully, annual events like the Solstice of Heroes are still on track and approaching rapidly.

To help fill the time, players have seemingly tapped into their creativity either through trying new things in game or turning to crafting in real life to make something really special. One user used the new Ruinous Effigy exotic as a model to create a replica version out of wood. Another player dove into some research and discovered that an often overlooked exotic sniper rifle may be worth using for those who really want to maximize their boss damage output.

As players continue to wait for the Solstice of Heroes, the Destiny 2 exotic merchant Xur is once again back in the game for players to locate. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he's currently selling for the weekend of July 31, 2020.

Where is Xur?

For this weekend, players will want to head to the Winding Cove in the European Dead Zone.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor

As he's been doing for the past few weeks, Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.

Here are Xur's three gear pieces this weekend:

Ophidian Aspect - Warlock gauntlets

This armor is subclass neutral item that enhances combat ability through its perk, Cobra Totemic. With it, players can ready weapons and reload them much faster than normal. In addition, it also extends the Warlock melee range.

Ultimately, these are solid exotics because they help improve the combat of the game, especially in PvP activities. Having extended melee range is also beneficial for many Warlock subclasses, especially players who like using Devour. This item did receive a recent buff inside of the Season 10 update which gave them a buff that further extends the lunge range of all Warlock melee attacks even if the ability is on cool down.

Aeon Swift - Hunter gauntlets

It's been said numerous times but absolutely bears repeating: do not buy these. The Aeon gear needs an overhaul in general as they're all regarded as the worst exotics in the game.

The main reason is that they're dependent on other players wearing Aeon gear in order to maximize the benefits from them. The Swift variant grants Grenade energy to Warlocks, Barricade energy to Titans, and Dodge energy to Hunters, once the player wearing the gear dodges. Players not part of the Aeon Cult (wearing their Aeon gear), only receive a fraction of the shared energy. Since players don't wear this gear, they're not very helpful. Again, these are a hard pass.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +11
  • Resilience +7
  • Recovery +16
  • Discipline +15
  • Intellect +7
  • Strength +10

Lion Rampant - Titan leg armor

Titans who need a bit of mobility and stability when making tricky jumps will want these rocket boots.  Similar to the St0mp-EEZ for Hunters, Lion Rampant's come with the perk Jump Jets which provides added maneuverability in the air and enables accurate hipfire while players are in the air during Lift. Basically, these boosts will help make Lift Titans jump for twice as long.

Naturally, these boots are great for more platforming based activities like Ascendant Challenges, Whisper of the Worm, and Outbreak Prime, to name a few. Outside of that, a players mileage will vary as they don't offer a significant boost to combat boost like other Titan exotics.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +13
  • Resilience +11
  • Recovery +7
  • Discipline +11
  • Intellect +18
  • Strength +2

Exotic Weapon

One of the most memed weapons in the game is on sale this week with Xur. The Telesto is an energy fusion rifle that has the distinction of being one of the most disabled weapons in the Destiny franchise thanks to numerous bugs and glitches that typically allow the gun to break the game in favor of players. It helped players cheese the Blind Well event, helped proc certain buffs and benefits for other players, giving free special ammo in large quantities, and much more. Because of these glitches, the gun has become very player friendly and likely a massive headache for Bungie.

In terms of gameplay, the weapon's intrinsic perk is called Unplanned Reprieve which causes fusion projectiles to attach and detonate with a delayed void blast. It's also paired with the Harbinger's Pulse perk which instantly reloads equipped primary and energy weapons after multi-kills with the Telesto. Naturally, it's a great PvE weapon as its sticky explosives cover a wide area and can clear adds very fast. It's a solid PvP weapon as well, though it really shines once the Masterwork catalyst has been applied to increase the ammo reserves.

Additional perks:

  • Projection Fuse
  • Polymer Grip

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for July 31, 2020:
