Next week in Destiny 2 is already shaping up to be another big one for the popular looter shooter. Not only does the December 8 reset bring about the first instance of Iron Banner inside of the Beyond Light era, but the fan favorite Prophecy Dungeon also makes its return much sooner than previously expected. In addition, players on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

In some unfortunate news, Trials of Osiris and the return of Adept Weapons have once again been postponed while Bungie fixes a number of bugs and exploits that would likely have derailed the experience. Thankfully, Bungie has also provided an update as to when the competitive game mode will be available. As of now, Bungie is targeting December 18, two weeks from now, for the mode to finally debut.

Considering that it's Friday, players should be hunting down the weekend vendor Xur, who has not not only returned to the world of Destiny 2, but he's brought with him a new selection of exotic items. Follow this guide for his location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he's currently selling for the weekend of December 4, 2020.

Where is Xur?

Through this weekend, Xur can be found within the European Dead Zone on his usual cliff.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur's role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur's three gear pieces this weekend:

Verity's Brow - Warlock helmet

Verity's Brow is an exotic helm which was at one point given to all players who finished the Warmind DLC campaign, which is now inside the Destiny Content Vault. Its exotic perk is called The Fourth Magic, which causes energy weapon kills to boost grenade energy for the player and any nearby enemies. This effect can stack up to three times.

The item itself is definitely useful, especially when paired with strong energy weapons like Riskrunner. While the stat roll on it isn't great this week, the armor is still worth picking up for those who don't have it.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +12
  • Resilience +15
  • Recovery +4
  • Discipline +9
  • Intellect +14
  • Strength +6

Graviton Forfeit - Hunter Helmet

It's been quite a while since this Hunter exotic has been featured with Xur. When equipped, its exotic perk Vanishing Shadow nearly doubles the duration of invisibility effects and increases melee recharge speed while invisible.

Destiny-2-Nightstalker-Subclass

In the past, this item has been known to help players solo Nightfalls, but the real draw of this helmet is how much of a positive impact it has on the Way of the Wraith super tree for Nightstalker Hunters. For players using this tree, this item is solid choice, even if there are better options out there like the Gwisin Vest. Ultimately, this item probably isn't going to become a normal rotation item or replace some of the better items out there.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +10
  • Resilience +9
  • Recovery +14
  • Discipline +7
  • Intellect +14
  • Strength +8

Citan's Ramparts - Titan gauntlets

Originally introduced during Season of the Worthy, this gear features the perk called Assault Barricade. Ultimately, it allows allies to shoot through the Titan's Towering Barricade. The downside is that the barricade's health and duration is lower than normal.

Naturally, this item likely won't be for everyone as it only impacts a very small portion of the Titan player. Not everyone uses the Towering Barricade, which makes this item useless for those players. Still, it does have its uses under the right circumstances. This definitely isn't a must buy but players may find a use for them even with a decent stats roll this week.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +2
  • Resilience +14
  • Recovery +13
  • Discipline +14
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +14

Exotic Weapon

This week features the Wardcliff Coil rocket launcher with its unique firing mechanics. Mad Scientist allows this weapon to fire a volley of rockets instead of just one at a time like the others. Volatile Launch goes even further to make this weapon even more explosive by greatly increasing blast radius and slightly decreasing handling speed and projectile speed.

For newer players, this is a great PvE weapon, so it's an easy recommend this week. Rocket Launchers remain a solid power choice, even if many players tend to stick to machine guns and grenade launchers. Either way, this weapon in particular remains incredibly strong in PvE activities, especially against bosses. When used in conjunction with arc singe enabled activities, the weapon can melt bosses very quickly which made it a very attractive option for those running the now vaulted Strange Terrain Nightfall.

Additional perks:

  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Alloy Magazines
  • Composite Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for December 4, 2020:

  • Verity's Brow (Warlock helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Graviton Forfeit (Hunter helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Citan's Ramparts (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Wardcliff Coil (Rocket Launcher) - 29 Legendary Shards
  • Exotic Engram - 97 Legendary Shards/1 Exotic Cypher
  • A Question - Exotic Cypher Quest

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
