It's Friday which means Destiny 2's exotic merchant Xur has finally returned for his typically weekend stay. His visit has a little more anticipation behid it than usual since the Forsaken expansion launched only a few days ago. As it was last week, Xur is back to his original Destiny 1 ways, no longer predictably appearing in milestone locations and having his emblem removed from the map as well.

In addition, players will notice that his usual stash of consumables has nearly been all removed. The Fated Engram, an item that granted players one exotic item not currently owned, and the Three of Coins, a consumable that increased the chances of finding an exotic engram, have been removed from his shop. Unfortunately for Xbox and PC players looking to potentially acquire the previously Sony-exclusive sniper rifle Borealis, they'll need to continue waiting a little longer.  Only the Five of Swords challenge card remains available outside of his weapon and armor selections.

Here's a rundown on where to find Xur as well as what he's offering from September 7 until he departs before the weekly reset next week.

Where is Xur?

Seeing as Xur is no longer tethered to the Destiny 2 Flashpoint milestone following the big sandbox update, players are once again tasked with hunting down this elusive merchant. For players who don't feel like searching countless locations, Xur can be found at his typical spot at the Tower. After loading in, run to the left and enter the hanger. Xur can be found to the left and beyond Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit group on a stairwell.

Class Armor

In terms of class armor, Xur isn't offering anything new this week. In fact, half of his inventory this week is a repeat from the previous weekend appearance. His inventory this week includes the Young Ahamkara Spine gauntlets for Hunters, Ashen Wake Titan gauntlets, and Nezarec's Sin helmet chest armor for Warlocks. The one saving grace this week is that the items again have random rolls, so it's still worth checking out each item to see if the item is worth acquiring.

While not the most exciting exotic Hunter item, the Young Ahamkara's Spine is only a solid choice for Gunslinger Hunters. The exotic perk Wish-Dragon Teeth increases the duration and blast radius of the Tripmine Grenade while scoring ability damage on enemies also decreases the tripmine cooldown. Since it's tied to tripmine grenades, the item is pretty class specific and very situational.

Back again from its appearance last week, the Ashen Wake gauntlets for Titans directly affect Fusion grenades. Through the Bring the Heat perk, fusion grenades explode on impact, gain increased throw speed, and recharge grenade energy on direct hits. Since players need to be using Fusion grenades in order to get the most out of this class item, they're hard to recommend for normal use.

Voidwalker Warlocks will likely want to pick up Nezarec's Sin this week as it's an exotic that was recently buffed in the Sandbox update. The exotic perk Abyssal Extractors increases ability energy recharge rate after void kills. While that's generally fine on its own, the recent update supercharged this ability by increasing the base duration of the effect and enabling the player to further increase the duration by another 20 seconds after scoring rapid kills.

Exotic Weapon

The disappointment doesn't stop there however as the Prometheus Lens is also back again from last week. For players that missed it, they have another opportunity to collect this recently buffed trace fusion rifle. While it's nowhere near as powerful as it was when Curse of Osiris launched thanks to a bug that slipped into the release, these weapons are slowly making a comeback. Thanks to its Prismatic Inferno perk, players can create an ever-expanding heat field to damage enemies the longer the gun is fired.

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock for Sept 7:

  • Ashen Wake (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Young Ahamkara's Spine (Hunter Gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Nezarec's Sin (Warlock helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Prometheus Lens (Linear Trace Rifle) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
