It's been a pretty busy week for Destiny 2 fans as the annual Solstice of Heroes event officially kicked off. Although it's going to be around a couple of weeks longer than originally anticipated, players only have a set amount of time to collect all sorts of new summer themed items like the popular Scooty Puff Jr Sparrow.

Unlike last year, the Solstice armor grind doesn't involve remixed campaign missions and instead tasks players with completing all sorts of different base game activities. These range from playing through a set number of Crucible or Strike missions, taking part in public events, defeating enemies in the newly added European Aerial Zone, collecting elemental orbs, and much more. The reward is well worth the effort, however, as not only do players unlock some impressive looking armor but also the first set to utilize the upcoming Armor 2.0 system.

Of course, other weekly traditions remain unaffected by this special event including the weekend exotic merchant, Xur. For the next few days, Destiny 2 players can track him down to find a new selection of exotic gear and weapons to purchase. Here's where players can find Xur, and check out what exotic gear is in his inventory, for the weekend of August 2, 2019.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Xur can be found back inside the Tower hangar in his usual spot. Load in to the original landing zone and run left down the stairs to eventually find the Hangar.

After entering the hangar, head left again past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit crew and up a metal stair case. Xur is standing on a metal platform at the back of this room overlooking the mountain ranges below.

Class Armor

Even though there's only one Forsaken exotic available this week, Hunters and Titans should be pretty happy with the selection as well as the perks on the items. For Warlocks who feel that their option isn't as strong, there's always the Fated Engram option which provides a chance to unlock an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.

Here are Xur's three gear pieces for this weekend:

Winter's Guile - Warlock gauntlets

Arguably the weakest option this week are the Winter's Guile gauntlets. Strangely enough, these exotics are melee focused, something the Warlock class isn't particularly known for. Warlord's Sigil causes the players melee damage to increase following a melee kill.

The main issue with this exotic perk is that once the buff is active, its timer is really too short to make any use of. Essentially, the the added damage bonus on a second melee hit is likely going to disappear before the player can use it. With so many options available to Warlock players, this is a very hard exotic to recommend this week.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Mobility OR Resilience
  • Rocket Launcher Loader, Momentum Transfer, Enhanced Impact Induction
  • Shotgun Scavenger, Sniper Rifle Scavenger

St0mp-EE5 - Hunter boots

Affectionately known as Stompees, these Hunter boots provide a major buff to player movement. Its intrinsic perk, Hydraulic Boosters, increase player sprint speed and slide distance. In addition, this exotic further improves High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump.

While these boots are always a solid exotic choice, especially for the more platforming heavy missions like Zero Hour or The Whisper, Xur's selection this week are the most desirable by Hunters thanks to the Traction perk. Traction adds event more mobility and a tighter turning radius while sprinting. As such, it makes these a very easy recommendation this week.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Mobility OR Resilience
  • Fusion Rifle Dexterity, Submachine Gun Dexterity, Traction
  • Arrow Scavenger OR Scout Rifle Scavenger

One-Eyed Mask - Titan helmet

Oddly enough, this Titan exotic helm was also last on sale with the previously mentioned St0mp-EE5 boots. The One-Eyed Mask remains a very strong exotic option for Titan players, even after its tweak earlier in the year. Its intrinsic perk, Vengeance, activates after the wearer takes damage. However, when the perk is active, the player that did the damaging is highlighted and the wearer gains an over shield and damage buff.

Thanks to its perk, the One-Eyed Mask is an extremely powerful PvP item which likely means players will see an uptick of Titan players using it this weekend in the Crucible. With that said, it’s also not bad for PvE activities either, especially in modes like Gambit where you can invade against a team of human opponents. This week's edition is even stronger thanks to the enhanced perk for hand cannons.

Random Gear Rolls:

  • Restorative OR Mobility
  • Pulse Rifle Targeting, Pump Action, Enhanced Hand Cannon Targeting
  • Linear Fusion Rifle Reserves OR Special Ammo Finder

Exotic Weapon

On sale a month ago, the submachine gun Huckleberry is back in stock. This primary slot weapon is capable of dealing large amounts of damage very quickly thanks to its intrinsic perk Ride the Bull. With the trigger is held down, the weapon gains an increased rate of fire and recoil and any kills during this time reload a portion of the magazine as well. The weapon also comes with rampage, which gives it increased damage (holding up to 3 stacks) after a kill, and Ricochet Rounds which causes bullets to bounce and redirect off hard surfaces.

With the high rate of fire, this is a weapon that's great at clearing out groups of enemies at closer range. Due to its chaotic nature, it's better suited to PvE activities that feature a lot of things to shoot at including Gambit, Reckoning, and the Menagerie. This weapon becomes even more of a beast when the catalyst is applied. Thankfully, it’s fairly easy to get, requiring players play through heroic adventures.

Additional perks for this weapon are:

  • Fluted Barrel
  • Short Action Stock

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for August 2:

  • Winter's Guile (Warlock gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • St0mp-EE5 (Hunter boots) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • One-Eyed Mask (Titan helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • The Huckleberry (Submachine Gun) - 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
