Fans got a surprise treat this week as Bungie launched a new exotic quest alongside the traditional Tuesday reset. As players found the Transponder and assisted the Fallen captain Mithrax, players were rewarded with Outbreak Perfected, a variation on the notoriously difficult to get exotic pulse rifle previously seen in Destiny: Rise of Iron. Like its predecessor, Outbreak Perfected retains the SIVA nanite swarms and has already managed to become the go to weapon to quickly eliminate raid bosses.

If players are looking for even more exotics, Xur has returned to the world of Destiny 2 with all new items up for sale. Here's where players can find Xur, get details on the latest Invitation of the Nine quest, and find out exotic items are on offer for the weekend of May 10, 2019.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Xur is back inside of The Tower near Dead Orbit.

As usual, fast travel to the main Tower location and head left into the Hangar. Once there, take another left and move past the Dead Orbit section to find a metal staircase. Move up the stairs to find Xur on a platform overlooking the mountain range off in the distance.

Invitation of the Nine Quest Week 9

The Invitation quests are back on track after an unfortunate bug halted progress over the past couple of weeks while Bungie worked on a fixed. With progression now open once again, Week 9 continues on with The Hanged Man. Here are the details:

  • The Hanged Man - Collect 9 samples from defeated Hive, Scorn, and Taken in the Dreaming City. Complete strike "The Corrupted."

Class Armor

A bit of bad news this week as Xur is fresh out of new Forsaken exotics. However, he's still offering the Fated Engram which has a great chance to give the layer an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.

Here are all three gear pieces for this weekend:

Eye of Another World - Warlock helm

Formerly a very popular Xur inventory item, Eye of Another World has been placed on the sidelines for quite a while. Through Cerebral Uplink, the helm highlights priority targets while also improves the regeneration speed of the grenade, melee, and Rift abilities.

For players who don’t have this item, it's a decent option for PvE or PvP. When using mods that target regeneration rates, this exotic can help players get their abilities much faster than normal. It's not a must have item, but it can be a decent choice.

Gear Rolls:

  • Restorative OR Mobility
  • Fusion Rifle Targeting, Hand Cannon Targeting, Hands On
  • Sniper Rifle Reserves OR Machine Gun Reserves

Young Ahamkara's Spine - Hunter gauntlets

The bone inspired armor called Ahamkara's Spine is on offer again this week for Hunters. It comes with an exotic perk called Wish-Dragon Teeth, which increases tripmine grenade duration and blast radius. Better yet, any damage done with the ability returns bonus tripmine grenade energy.

Again, this isn't a must have exotic item for Hunters but they do synergize with the Way of a Thousand Cuts subclass tree. It may not be able to compete with some Hunter exotics like Shards of Galanor, but when used in certain spots, it’s a decent choice.

Gear Rolls:

  • Resilience OR Mobility
  • Fusion Rifle Loader, Hand Cannon Loader, Impact Induction
  • Sniper Rifle Scavenger OR Machine Gun Scavenger

Mask of the Quiet One - Titan helm

On offer just a couple of months ago, Mask of the Quiet One is a classic vanilla Destiny 2 Titan exotic. Dreaded Visage, the intrinsic perk, gives ability energy when the wearer is damaged. Not only that, when the player is critically damaged, any kill will cause maximum health to be regained.

The appeal of this helm is the fact that its subclass neutral. Outside of that, it’s a viable exotic and will likely come in handy from time to time. It won’t outclass some of the better Titan exotics out there, however, so this isn’t a must buy this week.

Fixed Gear Rolls:

  • Restorative OR Mobility
  • Fusion Rifle Targeting, Hand Cannon Targeting, Hands On
  • Sniper Rifle Reserves OR Machine Gun Reserves

Exotic Weapon

It’s been a while but the unique exotic grenade launcher, The Colony, is available for purchase at Xur this weekend. Thanks to its exotic perk, Insectoid Robot Grenades, the weapon fires grenades that are actually insectoid robots. Once fired, these devices chase enemy targets and explode at close range. As if that isn’t enough, when holstered, the gun refills its magazine as well.

Grenade launchers can often be a specialized choice based on the activity, but The Colony remains one of the best picks in this weapon class thanks to its tracking explosives. While it’s likely a weapon that most players have at this point, The Colony is an easy recommendation for those who don’t.

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for May 10:

  • Eye of Another World (Warlock helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Young Ahamkara's Spine (Hunter gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Mask of the Quiet One (Titan helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • The Colony (Grenade Launcher) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • The Hanged Man - 9 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
