Next week in Destiny 2, the Olympics inspired event Guardian Games makes its 2021 debut.  Last year saw the Titans hammer home a dominating victory over Warlocks and Hunters, though Bungie has made a few adjustments this time around in the hopes of avoiding any potential scoring controversies. Instead of attempting to weight scoring based on class, Bungie is instead removing that restriction with the third place finisher after 1 week earning a 10% boost permanently.

In addition to a brand new Guardian Games playlist with all sorts of modifiers in play, the event brings with it tons of new loot to acquire including a brand new suit of armor, sparrows, class items, glow effects, as well as the Heir Apparent catalyst. Naturally, the Eververse store will also be stocked with Guardian Games themed gear from stylized Ghost shells, ships, and sparrows. Hopwever, Bungie has also created a special Universal Ornament using new tech that allows shaders to be accurately applied and rendered.

While the competition is set to heat up next week, Xur is adding a bit of fuel to the fire with a brand new selection of exotic gear this weekend. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he's currently selling for the weekend of April 16, 2021 inside of Destiny 2.

Where is Xur?

For the next few days, players can find the exotic merchant hanging out in his usual spot at The Tower.

As usual, fast travel to the main Tower location and head left into the Hangar. Once there, take another left and move past the Dead Orbit section to find a metal staircase. Move up the stairs to find Xur on a platform overlooking the mountain range off in the distance.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur's role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur's three gear pieces this weekend:

Starfire Protocol - Warlock chest armor

Nearly half a year later, the Starfire Protocol exotic armor is back on sale at Xur. Fusion Harness provides players with 1 extra fusion grenade charge and they also recharge faster when the player makes a kill with an empowered weapon. Fusion grenade kills also recharge the rift ability faster.

While the perks may not sound very exciting, players have found some interesting uses for the armor, especially when it is paired with the Attunement of Grace tree. This support build allows players to use an empowering rift basically letting them have two healing grenades. Plus, the added damage not only recharges the rift but kills made from an empowered weapon also recharge the grenade faster as well. It's not a must have item this week, but it does have its uses.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +9
  • Resilience +7
  • Recovery +16
  • Discipline +2
  • Intellect +7
  • Strength +22

Lucky Raspberry - Hunter chest armor

A classic exotic item from the base version of Destiny 2, the Lucky Raspberry remains a somewhat underwhelming exotic. This item specifically targets arc-bolt users, so they can be safely ignored for everyone else.  Through the Probability Matrix perk, Arc Bolt grenades have increased chaining capabilities and also have a chance to recharge each time it deals damage. A full chain always recharges.

Naturally, this exotic offers zero value for players not using arc bolt grenades. Ultimately, there are better options available so this is another item players can pass on.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +13
  • Resilience +13
  • Recovery +8
  • Discipline +6
  • Intellect +9
  • Strength +16

Ashen Wake - Titan gauntlets

While this exotic is normally not something to get overly excited about, Titans may want to take another look at these gauntlets this time around. The Ashen Wake gauntlets were improved earlier this year inside of of Bungie's sandbox changes made to the game.

Bring the Heat makes fusion grenades explode on impact and gives the player increased throw speed. The recent buff grants additional grenade energy for final blows made with a fusion grenade. The stronger the enemy, the more energy is returned. Either way, these exotics are pretty situational and not for everyone.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +6
  • Resilience +9
  • Recovery +17
  • Discipline +6
  • Intellect +13
  • Strength +9

Exotic Weapon

It's the Jade Rabbit back in stock this weekend. The Fate of All Fools is the scout weapon's intrinsic perk, giving bonus damage to players that can land a precision shot after chaining multiple body shots on an enemy. This also returns ammo to the magazine as well. Zen Moment, the other unique perk, also gives bonus stability when the weapon causes damage to an enemy.

Jade Rabbit Destiny 2

While Scout Rifles have gained some notoriety this season thanks in large part to the exotic Dead Man's Tale, they're still not a big part of the game's overall meta. However, for skilled players, The Jade Rabbit can be a force. At the end of the day, this weapon may not suit everyone, but it's worth a look for those who can master the art of the headshot.

Additional perks:

  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Armor-piercing Rounds

Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for April 16, 2021:

  • Lucky Raspberry (Hunter chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
