In most cases, Destiny 2 exotics are all about the luck of the draw. Players get lucky with an engram or milestone completion, and they end up with something new. However, there are a few exotics that are tied to quests or objectives, like the new Worldline Zero introduced with the Warmind DLC.
Worldline Zero is a new exotic sword that is a little time consuming to obtain, but requires no reliance on RNG. Getting the exotic sword is as simple as collecting (or rather, shooting) a set number of items.
Find the Memory Fragments
Scattered throughout Hellas Basin, the new patrol area on Mars, are items called Memory Fragments. These Memory Fragments come in three different colors – orange, purple, and blue – and they are found in obvious spots on the map and tucked away in some less obvious ones.
To “activate” a Memory Fragment players will need to shoot the colored circle with the corresponding element. So if the circle is orange, they must use a Solar weapon, or a Void weapon for purple, or an Arc weapon for blue.
In total, there are 45 Memory Fragments to destroy, but players only need to shoot 35 of them to unlock the Worldline Zero exotic sword. There is a reward for eliminating all 45 – an exotic sparrow.
Here is a video guide detailing where to find all of the Memory Fragments.
Worldline Zero Exotic Sword
While swords have fallen out of favor in Destiny 2, this exotic version is actually quite unique. From a design perspective, the sword surges with electric energy that pulses the entire time it is equipped. It’s a little like the Boltcaster from Destiny 1, but with a more technology-focused theme.
The Worldline Zero’s exotic perk is called Tesseract and although it sounds like something Thanos would be after, the perk actually lets the player teleport forward any time they use their heavy sword attack. Much like the light attack can help the player close short distances, this Tesseract attack will let them leap towards an enemy and deliver a substantial blow.
Many of the exotics originally introduced in Destiny 2 seemed to drop the ball as far as being considered truly “exotic,” but it appears Bungie is looking to introduce a little more magic into its ultra-rare arsenal both by retuning existing exotics and introduces some interesting new ones. Hopefully there are more weapons like Worldline Zero in the plan.
Destiny 2: Warmind is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
