Destiny 2's next big expansion is less than a month and a half away, and The Witch Queen seems to be one of the biggest releases in the history of Bungie's looter shooter. There are still a lot of questions surrounding why or how Savathun will take the Light for herself and the Hive, and how her warriors will be granted with Light powers in a way that makes them similar to Guardians than anything before. Hive Lightbearers will be very powerful enemies introduced with The Witch Queen, and while they are not conceived to be similar to Destiny 2's Champions, they will be more akin to Vex Wyverns as per Bungie developers.

The Witch Queen expansion has been shown through trailers since August of last year, and today Bungie released another one that delves more into the horrors that lie in Savathun's Throne World. The Throne World is where Savathun can recover if she is killed, and she has to die in there as well if she's meant to die a final death. However, things can change a lot when the Light is involved, and Savathun might not need her Throne World in the same way as before.

The Witch Queen's new trailer shows several indoors and outdoors locations within Savathun's Throne World, and the Hive God also calls it indistinguishable from her own mind. Hive Guardians are not the only enemies found within the Throne World, nor are regular Hive enemies. In fact, the trailer even shows a fight with Destiny 2's Scorn, which might be a sign of Xivu Arath's forces finding their way into the realm as well.

Xivu Arath has been present in Destiny 2's background for a while now, and understandably so because she is Savathun's sister. In Season of the Lost, it was revealed that Scorn and Taken are now under Xivu Arath's command, and it's unlikely a coincidence that players will encounter them in Savathun's domain as well. Furthermore, the new trailer also shows some kind of creature lying in wait inside one of the structures that belong to the Throne World, but it's unclear whether it's a new enemy type or not.

Destiny 2's The Witch Queen could introduce the series' worst enemy yet in the form of the Aphelion, and even though the new trailer doesn't confirm as much, it's been an ongoing theory within the game's community. Still, the presence of the Scorn should pose questions about what to expect of the narrative, and if Savathun is going to become a new ally against Xivu Arath's forces, instead.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
