It's now officially less than six weeks leading to the launch of Destiny 2's next big expansion, The Witch Queen. The new campaign will allow Guardians to set foot back on Mars, explore Savathun's Throne World, and delve deeper into the mystery of how the Hive God obtained the Light for herself and her Lucent Brood, all packed with Destiny 2's typical gameplay full of action and gunplay. The Witch Queen is an ambitious release on Bungie's part as it will also come with the Void 3.0 update, a new Raid, the weapon crafting system, and plenty of other features.
The new Destiny 2 Witch Queen trailer highlights Savathun's Throne World and the enemies within even further, featuring what seems to be a new creature within the Throne World's structures. An important detail comes from the presence of Scorn enemies within Savathun's realm, as the Hive God herself reveals that her Throne World is indistinguishable from her mind, but the Scorn are part of Xivu Arath's army. As such, it's very likely that Xivu Arath's forces are also at play in this strange place, and players will have to defeat them as shown in the trailer.
During the new trailer for The Witch Queen, a Titan is shown using the Thundercrash Super to fly into a pack of Scorn enemies on a rather small bridge. A Reddit user by the name of VGLEAKER shared a still image of the new trailer's shot and drew a parallel to a famous Thor: Ragnarok scene where the god of thunder descends onto dozens of enemies with lightning at his back, only to proceed to decimate all his opponents with the sheer power of the storm.
However fitting the parallel drawn to the MCU might be, another Redditor pointed out that this is all a continuous homage to the second Destiny trailer, where three Guardians go up against the Hive on the Moon, and a Titan slams their Fists of Havoc into the horde. Funnily enough, the same music from the Destiny trailer is also used in the aforementioned Thor: Ragnarok scene, which makes it all even more perfect. The Destiny 2 trailer is gloomier in tone, and Immigrant Sogn from Led Zeppelin might have been a bad fit for it.
Destiny 2 can have plenty of epic moments like those shown in the trailers and the MCU movie, and the community constantly proves as much with incredible feats. An example comes from the fact that a Destiny 2 player defeated all Raid bosses with seven Throwing Hammers total, scoring a new record.
