As players approach the release of Destiny 2's new expansion, the Witch Queen, they can anticipate the much-teased new in-game content, lore, and a brand-new activity called Wellspring. The Witch Queen named Savathûn is already expected to be Destiny 2's most evil villain, making fans believe the game will be a huge success before its release.

Set to release on February 22, the Witch Queen Expansion trailer has been turning heads with trailers revealing the all too intimidating witch and her Throne World, among the hive and a glorious campaign promised by developer Bungie to be the best one yet.

One thing that makes The Witch Queen so deadly is her ability to steal and wield the Light, which gives the guardians their power. As the sibling of Oryx, also known as the Taken King, and hive God Xivu Arath, Savathûn has woven herself into multiple storylines in order to make herself known to Guardians as the next significant danger. This expansion occurs in the Throne World of Savathûn, a "twisted wonderland" amidst a dark swamp-like biome and includes a massive crystalline palace.

This expansion brings about many changes that developers have long-awaited to reveal, including adding play style customizations. They are also introducing a new Destiny weapons crafting system for players to create individual weapon customizations unique to their Guardian and play style with adjustable mods, stats, and shaders. The developers have also introduced a new six-man match-made activity called Wellspring that plays out in the Throne World to simulate a dramatic storming of the palace. Players can also look forward to new Exotic Weapons such as the Glaive to perform powerful melee combos, fire projectiles, and produce a strong energy field. Lastly, this expansion introduces Exotic Armor pieces such as the Hoarfrost-Z chest armor for Titans, Osmiomancy gloves for Warlocks, and Blight Ranger helmet for Hunters.

With all the excitement and anticipation for Destiny 2's new expansion, it is not surprising that the Witch Queen hit over a million preorders recently, breaking records for Bungie as it's on track to be the most preordered expansion in Destiny 2 history. Among that, this is a welcoming piece for Bungie's recent acquisition by Sony Interactive Entertainment, in light of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Preorders are still available for the looter shooter. This Destiny 2 campaign promises the likes of Doom to fans both new and old and a horde-based, wildly intense storyline in which players have much to look forward to.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
