Xivu Arath was the lesser-known sister of Oryx, the Taken King. Ever since Destiny 2: Beyond Light launched, her name is reoccurring in the game. The Season of the Hunt revolved around her Wrathborn, and the seasonal artifact was called the Fang of Xivu Arath. With the Season of the Chosen, her history with Caiatl urges Caiatl to seek an alliance with the Guardians. Although Xivu Arath was first mentioned in-game during Destiny 2: Forsaken, she was introduced in the Books of Sorrow during the Destiny: The Taken King expansion.
Xivu Arath, the God of War's tactics are unmatched, she is the definition of destruction. Her lore reveals why she is an imminent threat to the solar system, Guardians, and the Traveler.
10 Born As Xi Ro
Xivu Arath's first name was Xi Ro. In III: The Oath lore, she exclaims "I am Xi Ro, the youngest daughter of the dead king." Xivu Arath, Savathun, and Oryx were born on Fundament, a gas planet. Her father was the King of the Osmium Court, but he was killed by Taox and the Helium Court army. She and her siblings took an oath to get revenge. Xi Ro swore on her left eye that she would kill Taox and take back the Osmium Court. Even before becoming the God of War, she was capable as Xi Ro. Xi Ro was the reason the siblings escaped the attack on Fundament.
9 Becoming Xivu Arath
The Worm God in the XII: Out of the Deep lore from the Books of Sorrow says, "Xivu Arath, knight morph of Xi Ro. You love to conquer, don’t you?" Xivu Arath is the ruthless God of War who claimed that the "world is my court, wherever there is war" in the XXII: The High War lore. The Worm Gods told her that she must always test her strength and maintain their true self.
8 She Is The First Known Female Knight
Xivu Arath is the first known female Knight. She dreamt of being a knight because of the Helium Court threat and how their knights attacked Fundament every day. In the I: Predators lore piece, she stated how she had six stormjoys. These living clouds have tenacles with star-like lights to attract and eat prey. Only the bravest of knights can stand against them, but Xivu Arath can stronger than the knights since the beginning.
7 More Than Physical Strength
The Dust weblore from Destiny 2: Shadowkeep describes a battle between a Knight of Oryx and the Knight of Xivu Arath. They spoke of which sibling is the strongest. The Knight of Xivu Arath then explained that the God of War is a master of "operontological warfare".
This method uses strategy to attack the enemy's "fundamental modes of being and knowing". Xivu Arath doesn't just use brute force, she breaks the will of her enemies down.
6 Beheaded And Brought Back To Life
Xivu Arath and Savathun had once died their true deaths to Oryx. Their worms demanded too much from them to stay alive. Xivu Arath then asked Oryx to kill them and to take their sword logic. Oryx, named Auryx at the time, killed the Worm God Akka with the power of his dead siblings. He then took the power of Akka. He brought war upon the Ecumene people and used their blood to resurrect Xivu Arath. Reborn, she said, "I am war, and you have conjured me back with war."
5 Possibly Had Children
You may not have realized it, but they have encountered Xivu Arath's children in the game already. However, her Knight children named An Ragaar, Tir Balok, Xavan are Taken. In The Oracle Engine mission in The Dreaming City, these Knights were presented as the daughters and son of Xivu Arath. Neither the lore nor the in-game story explained why the three are Taken. Also, it has not told why her children are in The Dreaming City.
4 Wraithborn Horde
During the Season of the Hunt, the High Celebrant of Xivu Arath placed Cryptoliths around the Solar System to create the Wrathborn. The Wrathborn were supposed to be Xivu Arath's army of corrupted Hive broods, Fallen and Cabal. The influence of the Wrathborn ended after the Guardians defeated the High Celebrant.
3 Caiatl and Umun'arath Torobatl
II. The Cost of War lore piece explained that Caiatl, the Cabal Empress, was unprepared when Xivu Arath attacked the Cabal capital called Torobatl. Savathun possessed Caiatl's Evocate-General, Umun'arath who had a deep fascination with the Hive.
When Caiatl killed Umun'arath, this opened a portal that conjured the God of War that led to Torobatl's destruction. Caiatl then decided to seek the help of Guardians since they defeated Oryx, the Taken King.
2 Conspired With Savathun Against Oryx
Xivu Arath, Savathun, and Oryx killed each other repeatedly since it was their way to make each other stronger and to show their love. Throughout the Books of Sorrow, the two sisters have conspired to take down Oryx. Together, they tried to steal Oryx's tablets, which had the secret of calling onto the Darkness. At one point, Savathun found out the location of Oryx's throne world. She then told Xivu Arath to defeat Oryx there, but her had relocated his throne world because he knows his sisters well. "No one else is clever or strong enough to try to break me," said Oryx about his siblings in the Books of Sorrow. Before he met the Guardians, his siblings were the only ones that could face him.
1 Claims To Be The Strongest Hive God
In the Books of Sorrow, Xivu Arath tells her siblings, who were fighting, that "war is mine and I am strongest." Oryx remembered in the XXXIV: More Beautiful to Know lore how Xivu Arath blew up her entire war moon to take down Oryx when he killed her there. She has enough power to put herself in the same league as Oryx. In Season of the Hunt, Xivu Arath told Osiris that when the Guardians choose war, they are also choosing her. She even tells the militaristic Cabal legion, which knows every aspect of war, "for as long as you have worshipped war, you have worshipped me." Only someone as powerful as Xivu Arath could bring the Cabal to their knees.
