Destiny 2's best gear tends to vary greatly whenever a sandbox patch is released, as well as due to seasonal mods or new items being introduced. This is something that rarely happens when a Season is already running, whereas it's more common prior to big expansions or other releases, even though there are exceptions. This is precisely the case for the current Season of the Lost, which will see many changes coming with the 30th Anniversary Pack in December.

The sandbox patch planned for December was always referred to as a big game-changer for Destiny 2 because of all the buffs and nerfs it features, including further Stasis balance. Some of the nerfs coming with the 30th Anniversary Pack were announced by Bungie in the past weeks, but yesterday's TWAB highlighted many interesting buffs and changes. Among them, those made to the Whisper of the Worm Exotic sniper rifle or the Arbalest Exotic linear fusion rifle are very exciting for different reasons, but so is the new Full Auto Retrofit mod.

Many Destiny 2 players have been sharing their reactions to TWAB's content, and a Reddit user called BlitzDragon111 paid a funny tribute to Whisper of the Worm being buffed. The weapon was considered the king of DPS in Destiny 2 back when it was released, but then it underwent changes that made it less and less appealing, which the December patch will partly revert. The gun's damage will be increased and the delay for Whispered Breathing's activation will be reduced, along with the White Nail perk pulling ammo from thin air again. Thus, BlitzDragon111 shared a post with a screenshot of the buffs and an image reading "The Return of the King," from The Lord of the Rings movie series.

Arbalest has always been an interesting Exotic because of the perks revolving around breaking the opponents' shields, but it was lacking an Anti-Barrier Champion mod to make it viable in Destiny 2's endgame. This is changing in December, however, and this weapon will become extremely potent. Then, the Full Auto Retrofit mod will help players have a better feel of a few weapons, including hand cannons, scout rifles, pulse rifles, and sidearms. This made some players happy to use weapons like 180 RPM hand cannons and sidearms with a full auto mode, which is quite interesting to see.

Overall, the changes to Destiny 2 weapons detailed in the TWAB are something many players will be looking forward to in December. This is ultimately very good for the game, as the players' reactions point out.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
