The 2021 Guardian Games will be sticking around in Destiny 2 for the next three weeks, and players will be earning medals for their class with the hopes of taking home the victory. One of the most crucial parts of Guardian Games is earning Laurels, which can be found more commonly in the Daily Focus playlist for the day.

Hunters have dominated the first day of the 2021 Guardian Games in Destiny 2 but changes made by Bungie since last year should prevent them from dominating the competition. The losing class of the day gets a permanent point boost for the rest of the event to even the odds, so Titans will still be in with a chance of defending their champion title from last year.

To begin earning Laurels in the first place, Destiny 2 players will need to have their Guardian Games 2021 class item equipped as it comes with the ‘Friendly Competition’ perk which allows players to generate Laurels for their class. With this equipped, Laurels are generated for every enemy defeated with abilities, but bonus Laurels can be earned if players complete activities in the Daily Focus Playlist.

Daily Focus Playlist Explained

players earn extra currency in specific activity for guardian olympics event

Every day during the Guardian Games 2021 event, one activity in Destiny 2 will be designated as the Daily Focus. Playing this activity will provide players with boosted Laurel drops. For example, Vanguard Strikes may be the Daily Focus for one day, but it could be Crucible Control or Gambit another day.

The Daily Focus Playlist changes every day at 17:00 UTC with the daily reset in Destiny 2. Players can easily check which activity is the Daily Focus by opening the Destinations page on the Director and then opening the Milestones tab on the left of the screen. The activity that ends up being the day’s Daily Focus Playlist will also have a Guardian Games icon on its node on the Destinations page.

Wearing the class item not only generates Laurels but also awards Guardians bronze and silver medals for completing certain activities. Players should also spend their Laurels on the Contender Cards from Eva Levante as completing them awards gold or platinum medals.

However, players need to remember that the space in their Medal Case is limited and a player can only hold 500 Laurels at a time. Handing in medals often and spending Laurels whenever possible means nothing earned will go to waste, and Laurels can be easily earned again by going back into the Daily Focus Playlist.
