Each week seems to bring something new to Destiny 2 and this week is no exception. Earlier last week, players learned that Dead Orbit came out on top of the Faction Rally event, taking out second place New Monarchy and Future War Cult who brought up the rear. As such, fans have been able to purchase their signature weapon, the Haunted Earth scout rifle for a hefty discount, or for 50,000 glimmer for non-Dead Orbit supporters.

This week, however, players finally get a chance to square off in the Iron Banner as Lord Saladin finally makes his first appearance in Destiny 2. Like the rest of the game, Iron Banner is ditching the traditional bounties in favor of repeatable milestone quests, letting players earn faction reputation and special Iron Banner Engrams. This time around Saladin is offering weapons and special Samurai inspired Guardian armor.

Unfortunately for raiders, Bungie recently delayed the start of the much-anticipated prestige mode for the Leviathan Raid. Originally set to kick off later today, players are going to have to wait a week to dive into Destiny 2's greatest challenge currently available. This special version not only makes enemies stronger and smarter but will also add a few mechanical differences to the experience. At the very least, this delay gives players a little more time to reach the minimum power level of 300 to have a chance at earning some of the special loot that this encounter holds.

In the meantime, however, the weekly reset is once again here for Destiny 2. This means that new milestones and content awaits players as well as powerful gear. Here are the details on all of the new milestones, tasks, and events for the week of October 10, 2017.

Weekly Nightfall Strike

This week in the Nightfall, players are returning to an old friend on Nessus. The Inverted Spire is the chosen Nightfall strike this week, one that most players should be very familiar with considering it was the only strike available during the beta tests for Destiny 2.

Players will be taking on a mix of Red Legion and Vex enemies during this strike. Players will be using man cannons and dodging massive drilling equipment while battling both enemy groups who are at war with each other as well. Considering the modifiers this week, players are encouraged to use cover often to reduce the amount of incoming damage, especially when crossing the large drilling battlefield.

At the bottom of this massive drilling site awaits the Vex modular mind, Protheon. Along with waves of Vex, this Protheon fight is a tiered battle. After a third of its health is gone, the Vex will dissolve the floor, dropping Guardians down onto a new level to repeat the process. During this second phase, keep in mind that the floor will occassionally damage you, so make sure to jump to one of the nearby spires for safety. With another third of health knocked off, the floor dissolves one final time, dumping players into the third and final phase.

The boss room is much smaller than before and Protheon starts the fight out in the damaging "Vex Milk". Waves of Vex will continue to spawn, so players will need to damage Protheon from afar until its head explodes. At this point, the Vex will roam the entire room with increased speed, so keep it at a distance and continue to damage its weak spot in the stomach. Riskrunner is a great weapon to bring to the fight here as well.

The active modifiers this week are:

  • Attrition: Player health and shield regeneration is seriously impaired. Restore health and charge super moves by picking up Well of Light from defeated enemies.
  • Killing Time: Players can increase the Nightfall timer by killing enemies.

The player challenges for this week are:

  • Speed of Dark requires the fireteam to finish the Nightfall with at least 5 minutes remaining on the clock.
  • To earn Unbroken, the fireteam needs to complete the Nightfall with fewer than three deaths.
  • The Floor is Lava challenges the fireteam to not get hit by Protheon's fiery ground attack before defeating the enemy.

Flashpoint Location and Treasure Maps

Players should be heading to the Vex stronghold of Nessus to knock off this week's Flashpoint milestone. Just as it is each week, players simply need to participate in public events on Nessus to add a certain percentage to the quest milestone. Keep in mind that Heroic events fill the meter faster, so players are encouraged to trigger these events as often as they can for faster results. Once finished, players can visit Cayde-6 to earn a luminous planetary engram, which grants powerful gear for helping players advance above their current power level.

Of course, a new reset and Flashpoint means new treasure to find as well. Eager players should head over to Cayde-6 once the campaign is wrapped up to purchase his five treasure maps, offer vague clues to where his stashes are located. Unfortunately, two chests this week are in zones without proper landing zones, so expect plenty of running around.

To save players some time in tracking these chests down, here are the five general locations to start searching on Nessus:

  • The first chest can be found in Watcher's Grave, towards the northern part of the zone. Load in and head over to the massive tree that held Xur a few weeks ago. On the opposite side of the tree, players can spot the glowing chest resting on a large branch.
  • Instead of warping to a different location, continue down the road and head to The Tangle which holds the next chest. In the lowest area of the region, players can find a cave built into the side of a massive Vex structure. Head in and stay tot he right when the path forks. The chest can't be missed down this path.
  • Head to Exodus Black next, where the next chest can be found at the very back of the zone, past the Fallen and beyond Failsafe. A blue light highlights the doorway players should run through. Follow the trail until the game reveals the Prometheus Down area as the chest can be found right next to the path.
  • For the final two chests, warp over the Artifact's Edge. Continue through the zone and into The Hallows, dropping down into the massive pit. Head to the right side at the bottom and stop once a patch of red grass is seen on the left side. The chest is hidden on a ridge overlooking the road.
  • For the final chest, head back the previous way and into the Sunken Cavern. The chest can be found on the floating rocks to the far right. Watch your step, Guardians!

Leviathan Raid Encounter Order

Since it was released a few weeks back, the weekly reset has once again shifted the order of The Leviathan Raid. The benefit of doing this each week is that not only does it help to keep the encounter fresh for players, but it's also a great way for newer players or those who struggle to learn each part to the encounter.

This week, the order is as follows:

  • Baths
  • Gauntlet
  • Pleasure Gardens/War Beasts
  • Emperor Calus

Lord Shaxx Crucible Milestone

destiny 2 shaxx

As it is every week, Lord Shaxx is issuing his Call to Arms, asking players to play through a number of Crucible matches either from the Quickplay or Competitive playlists. While just participating will earn a percentage for finishing this quest, winning will make this quest wrap up much faster. Return to Shaxx to earn more powerful gear to boost that power level.

Call to Arms - Win glory by participating in Crucible matches.

And that's all for this week, Guardians. Enjoy!

Destiny 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and launches for PC on October 24, 2017.
