The first wave of season 2 Iron Banner is officially in the books. As Lord Saladin heads back to the Iron Temple on Felwinter Peak, fans will get another shot to earn exclusive loot when the Destiny 2 event next comes back around. While a specific date isn't known at this time, what players do know is that with each Faction Rally or Iron Banner event, the loot pool increases. Though fans found out the hard way, Bungie later confirmed that the entire season 2 content would be available by the last event prior to the season ending.

The big news from last week, however, was a roadmap of content that Bungie released, something which the developer has never really done before. In an effort to remain open and communicative with fans, the roadmap details tentative plans on not only new features, but many player requested changes are coming as well. Season 3 is set to kick off in May bringing with it many more significant changes, and the second expansion rumored to be called Gods of Mars.

For now, however, a new week of content has begun in Destiny 2, which means a whole new set of milestones for players to work on. This week we're taking a closer look at all the available content for players from the Nightfall and Raid content changes, to the smaller things like Flashpoint location and treasure chests. So make sure to check out our guide below as it covers everything players need to know for the week February 6, 2018.

Weekly Nightfall Strike

This week in the Nightfall, Guardians are heading back to Mercury to assist Osiris with the growing Vex threat. The newest strike, A Garden World, tasks players with taking out a newly formed Vex Mind, while having nearly unlimited access to their powers thanks to the torrent modifier. Unfortunately, this also means that the Nightfall is locked out for Destiny 2 players who don't have the first expansion pack.

As expected, this strike is actually a campaign mission from the Curse of Osiris expansion, so that means the enemies, locations, and mission details are largely the same. Upon arrival, head into the Infinite Forest, which leads to plenty of skirmishes with enemy factions like the Vex and Fallen. After navigating the twisting corridors, players will ultimately end up back on Mercury with the focus now on Vex and Cabal enemies.

While here, players will need to find and destroy floating vex cubes, which removes the shields from nearby elite enemies. To destroy the cubes, walk through the transparent dome and look up to take out the cube. Players will be repeating this multiple times throughout this section of the missions, using gravity lifts to continue the climb to the top of the tower.

One at the top, the Vex Root Mind will be waiting. This cyclops looking Vex can rotate 360 degrees around the platform, so players will need to continue to move and take cover behind constantly rotating blocks. To add to the challenge, Vex enemies will flood into the room to provide the Root Mind with support. Avoid the big purple laser, take cover often, take out trash mobs first, and players should have this boss down in no time.

The modifiers and challenges this week are:

  • Torrent: Player abilities recharge much faster than normal.
  • Timewarp: Zero Hour: Mission timer cannot be extended.

The player challenges for this week are:

  • Speed of Dark requires the fireteam to finish the Nightfall with at least 5 minutes remaining on the clock.
  • To earn Unbroken, the fireteam needs to complete the Nightfall with fewer than three deaths.
  • Players need to kill the Shielded Minotaurs in under 90 seconds in order to complete the final challenge for this week.

Flashpoint Location and Treasure Maps

Unlike the Nightfall, all players are welcome to complete the Flashpoint, which is located on Jupiter's moon, Io. Considering the size of the zone, players have plenty of public events to pick from in order to complete the milestone for this week. Keep in mind that triggering the heroic modifier, is a good way to get this quest done a little faster than normal.

As expected, that charming rogue Cayde-6 has five new treasure maps available for players who feel like doing a little exploring on Io. The maps aren't cheap and sometimes the rewards don't always match the price paid. The randomized loot ranges from simple rare gear, tokens, and loot that can be turned in, to more interesting things like exotic engrams and emblems. Either way, visit Cayde before heading to Io to pick up the newest set of maps.

While an icon appears on the minimap, here's a general description of where players should be looking:

  • The first two can be nabbed at Giant's Scar. Fast travel there to get started.
    • Chest one is located just a few feet from the fast travel point in a nearby cave on the left side wall.
    • For the second chest, head back out and back towards the fast travel point. Jump on a sparrow and head down the path heading towards Lost Oasis. A large metal structure is located along this road, and the chest can be found at the top of it.
  • The final three treasure chests are all located fairly close to one another at Terrabase Charon. To get started, fast travel back to Giant's Scar.
    • After fast travelling, head into the large base to get started. Continue following the left path past the large drill into a tunnel which leads into Terrabase Charon. After a short time, players will find an open area where the Taken and Vex are fighting. The chest can be found in a small cave down on the right side of the area.
    • The next chest is hanging out on a small platform inside the huge open hangar not far from that very cave. Head through the large opening towards the right side and use the two boxes stacked on top of one another to jump up to the platform.
    • Jump down, and head through the hole in the wall heading back to Lost Oasis to head for the final chest for this week. Follow the path until some metal boxes are on the ground off to the side. Thew glowing blue light should be visible in the debris.

Leviathan Raid Encounter Order/Weekly Challenge

While providing new milestones and content, the weekly reset also shuffles the Leviathan Raid encounter order. While this not only helps to keep the experience fresh for veteran players, it also helps players new to the experience get used to the Raid while also giving them an opportunity to play each part even if struggling.

Alongside the new raid order, the challenge has also been swapped out. This week, players will find the Raid Challenge with Emperor Calus. Make sure to check out our comprehensive guide for a walkthrough and tips and tricks for completing this one.

This week, the raid order is as follows:

  • Pleasure Gardens (War Dogs)
  • Baths (Royal Pools)
  • Gauntlet
  • Emperor Calus

Heroic Strike Milestone

For players looking for more of a challenge when playing strikes, the Heroic Strikes playlist is the way to go in Destiny 2. Players above the minimum recommended power level of 270 have an opportunity to score better loot at the end of the mission. Complete three of these this week to earn a powerful loot engram.

Heroic Strikes - Complete 3 heroic strikes.

Lord Shaxx Crucible Milestone

Call to Arms - Win glory by participating, getting kills, and finishing PvP matches from either the Quickplay or Competitive playlists. Finish the milestone and return to Shaxx to earn his weekly engram.

And that's all for this week. Good luck, Guardians!

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
