All Destiny 2 players should clear out their Postmaster prior to the game being taken offline for maintenance at 9:30 a.m. Pacific on August 28, 2018, to ensure that they do not lose any of their items. The warning comes straight from developer Bungie, who says that there is a risk of items unintentionally being deleted with the major changes coming within Update 2.0.

Players should make sure their Postmasters are clear, and it also wouldn't hurt to make sure that there are openings in each weapon slot on their characters. The reason for the warning is due to the overhaul of Destiny 2's weapon slots coming in Update 2.0.

There are a number of weapons that are changing to a completely new weapon slot; for example, some current Power weapons like the raid sniper, Alone as a God, will become a Kinetic weapon after Update 2.0. If players' Kinetic slots are full on their character, the weapon will overflow into the Postmaster, and if too many items overflow some will be pushed out and deleted.

The notable Power weapons changing to Kinetic are Alone as a God, Baligant, The Frigid Jackal, Hawthorne's Field-Forged Shotgun, Perfect Paradox, Shepherd’s Watch, and Silicon Neuroma. As a side note of advice, Update 2.0 will also lock in the elements currently equipped to players' Energy and Power weapons that are not changing to Kinetic, so players should make sure they have their preferred element equipped to their favorite weapons before Tuesday's update as well.

Once Update 2.0 goes live, players' exotic weapon, exotic armor, and emblem collection (found via the Vault) will become unavailable for a week until Forsaken launches on September 4 with the completely overhauled Collections system, which will let players pull out any Legendary loot that they have previously earned.

A lot will change on August 28 in preparation for Forsaken's launch, so players will want to log in as soon as possible and make sure they have some of these key areas of their accounts prepared.

Destiny 2: Forsaken releases on September 4, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
