A hidden message in the Curse of Osiris expansion has been discovered by Destiny 2 players, revealing a warning regarding the set-up for the upcoming Forsaken expansion that was left unheeded. The Destiny Ghost Stories Lore Discord community reportedly received a hot tip about undiscovered lore in a Curse of Osiris weapon. After "a lot of digging and discussion" the message CROW UNTRUSTWORTHY DESIRES POWER was decoded from the lore tab of Destiny 2's Telesto Exotic Fusion Rifle.

For those unfamiliar with Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion, what's been revealed so far involves the Awoken named Uldren Sov performing a jailbreak in the Prison of Elders. Uldren Sov, as Destiny players may recall, was the Queen of the Reef's advisor and brother. The "Crows" were Uldren's Awoken intelligence network, with Uldren himself being known as the Master of the Crows.

Here's where things get interesting. The decoded message isn't just some fourth-wall breaking hint from Bungie regarding the expansion, it's an in-lore coded message written to Acting Regent Petra Venj from Paladin Kamala Rior. It's a warning to acting Reef leadership (post-destruction of the reef) regarding Uldren becoming a growing threat. A threat now realized, given Uldren opens the Prison of Elders and kills Cayde-6 in the opening of Forsaken.

The code hidden in the Telesto's lore is simple to read, to the point where it's surprising it wasn't discovered earlier. The secret message is just a matter of taking the first letter of each word and putting them together. And it's clearly not just a coincidence, because the same message is carried through in Destiny 2's different regional translations.

According to a post on Reddit, the decoded French translation of the message reads, "Beware of the crow. He is thirsty for power." The Japanese translation reads, "Crow, you are obviously after power." And the Italian translation is, "Crow suspected, he wants power." While the translations aren't necessarily official, the implication is clear. A hint regarding the Forsaken expansion was made as early as Curse of Osiris. So, it makes one wonder what other obvious hints at future Destiny 2 content remains hidden in other weapon and armor lore.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Forsaken expansion launches September 4 across all supported platforms.
