Destiny 2 is one of those games that change a lot with new big expansions, and that is bound to be the case once The Witch Queen launches in February of next year. This is something that will occur in different instances, ranging from the way the storyline evolves from the current events, all the way up to how the game is played. As such, one of the most game-changing features in Destiny 2 will be weapon crafting, which is going to allow players to farm for specific rolls and combinations.

A crafting system in Destiny 2 is something players have wanted for years, and while the news that it is going to be real soon is great, some fans met it with skepticism. This is not because players don't think that the feature will be good for the game, but rather because new additions that change core aspects of Bungie's shooter tend to come with issues. That's what a Reddit user highlighted in their post, asking Bungie to balance the way weapon crafting will work based on past experience.

Redditor JLoco11PSN shared the reason why they are skeptical about weapon crafting, and that's mainly coming from how Bungie handled new currencies being introduced in Destiny 2 thus far. JLoco11PSN made an example out of the Warmind expansion, which introduced Masterworked weapons and the corresponding crafting material, Enhancement Cores. These were extremely rare in the beginning, and only those who played Destiny 2 for several hours could afford to Masterwork multiple guns, while average players couldn't.

History repeated itself when Shadowkeep introduced Enhancement Prisms and Ascendant Shards, and even last Season when Ada-1 came back and brought with her Armor Synthesis. These currency items were all rare or very hard to obtain in the beginning, so Bungie eventually changed them to make them more common or even removed them entirely in the case of the Synthstrands. Thus, the community wouldn't want this to happen with weapon crafting as well, meaning that if a new currency is meant to be added, it should be made fairly acquirable so as to not ruin the experience for non-hardcore players.

Weapon crafting can revolutionize Destiny 2, much like armor affinities and stats did, and after seven years since the franchise first saw the light of day, Bungie should tap into its past adjustments. This way, the direction to take in the future, starting with The Witch Queen, will be much clearer and use lessons learned as a springboard to do better by the playerbase.

Destiny 2 is available right now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
