The original Destiny managed to reach new heights with its The Taken King expansion, which added a wealth of content as well as addressed many fan complaints. Destiny 2 is in a similar situation right now, where fans are disgruntled by a number of things in the game, and Bungie is looking to turn things around. As part of this attempt, Bungie invited content creators to its studio in Seattle, Washington to playtest future updates for the game, and from that playtesting, we now know the upcoming Warmind DLC will add a new game mode.

This is according to YouTuber Mesa Sean, who was one of the content creators invited to the summit of Destiny 2 players. Mesa Sean is under a strict nondisclosure agreement and is unable to provide many details about what he experienced at the summit, but was able to confirm that he playtested a new game mode coming in the Warmind DLC that he was quite impressed with.

"You've never played a game mode like this in any Destiny franchise and probably not in any other franchises," he said. Mesa Sean added that the game mode is "definitely unique," and that he "did not want to stop playing." Mesa Sean also described the mysterious new game mode as fun and challenging.

So, what exactly is the new game mode coming to Destiny 2 in the Warmind DLC? We can't say for certain what it is, but there is one possibility that we can rule out. Despite battle royale shooters being so popular right now, Mesa Sean confirmed that the new game mode is not an attempt to cash in on that particular craze, so fans shouldn't have to worry about Destiny 2 trying to compete with Fortnite or PUBG once the Warmind DLC releases on May 8.

The new game mode in Destiny 2 could really be anything, but one possibility that comes to mind is that it is the previously leaked Deep Stone Crypt activity. According to a leaked GameStop description of the DLC, Deep Stone Crypt is a mode where players take on increasingly powerful bosses, which makes it sound a little bit like a boss rush mode. Bungie has yet to confirm or deny the existence of the Deep Stone Crypt activity, though, so players should wait for an official announcement.

Whether the new game mode is the Deep Stone Crypt or something completely different remains to be seen. Luckily, fans shouldn't have to wait long for more details. Mesa Sean teased that more embargoes in his NDA agreement will be lifted in the coming days, and Bungie itself is planning on properly revealing the DLC on April 24. After that reveal, fans just have to wait until May 8 to get their hands on the Warmind DLC themselves.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
