Earlier this week in Destiny 2, a new quest went live for the Outbreak Perfected exotic, which culminates in the timed dungeon-style Zero Hour mission. In addition to being able to complete the original mission to get the exotic and the Heroic version to get the exotic’s catalyst, players also discovered another puzzle hidden within the mission.

After crowdsourcing information from the Zero Hour mission with the Destiny 2 community, fans were able to solve the puzzle. The reward for completing the lengthy and complex puzzle is an exotic ship schematic and extra progress towards the catalyst for Outbreak Perfected. One Heroic run of Zero Hour grants 20% progress towards the catalyst with the puzzle granting an additional 17% for 37%. That means players who complete this puzzle over the next three weeks will finish their catalyst two weeks faster than those who do not.

It is assumed that each week, Zero Hour’s Heroic version will have a different Singe modifier. This week’s is void, which corresponds to the first item players will need to start this puzzle: the Void Configuration quest item.

Before taking on this puzzle, players should first complete the normal and Heroic versions of Zero Hour. Once again, this entire mission is on a timer, so players have until time runs out to complete this entire puzzle.

Pick up the Void Configuration keypad

Once players spawn into the Zero Hour mission, clear the first wave of enemies, which removes the energy shield to the stairs leading out of the first area. But first, go to the left of the stairs (where Eva Levante was located in Destiny 1) and look on the left side of the hallway for a shelf that contains an item with the prompt “Get keypad.”

Collect three keycards

Next players need to proceed into the mission to collect a blue, green, and red keycard. This video from YouTuber Ninja Pups does a good job at showing exactly where to go.

Go to the Cryptarch Vault room

The Cryptarch Vault room contains three consoles that have two circular readouts. There are also seven differently colored rooms that each have their own seven consoles. Reading the sequence on two of the consoles in the main room, paired with the fan-sourced spreadsheet found here, will tell players a specific colored room and console to activate. Doing that 49 times will complete the puzzle.

It is recommended that teams have two players reading the consoles in the main room and covering two colored rooms each while the third is free to run between the other four colored rooms on the opposite side. This makes it more efficient to get this puzzle done before time runs out.

In addition to this puzzle, players have also discovered a way to unlock the Quarantine Zone emblem within the Zero Hour mission.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
