Since its release back in September, Bungie continues to evolve the Destiny 2 experience. This month is a particularly big month for the developer as it prepares a substantial update that is bringing about much-needed changes to the Crucible as well as large-scale tweaks to each of the weapon types available in game. Bungie is also working on Update 1.2 which is set to arrive in May alongside season 3. This update also adds many important sandbox changes including updated sniper rifle mechanics.

In a very rare instance, Bungie has put out a short gameplay video detailing the upcoming Destiny 2 sniper changes. The clip features a playtest from update 1.2 and intends to show off the newly fixed sniper flinch mechanics as well as the sniper updates coming in the March update. The Iron Banner focused gameplay details the newly deadly sniper rifle in PvP combat where headshots are generally a one hit kill thanks to a boost to the precision multiplier. A bug that negatively impacted sniper flinch is also fixed in the clip as the player clearly has an easier time lining up those headshots.

Bungie has often been criticised over its relative lack of communication with its fanbase. This behavior was often amplified during quiet months during the first Destiny when players were begging for news on new content. In the past few months, the developer has done a 180 in how it has interacted with the community. Fans have seen roadmaps of content, the developer has been more open in its weekly updates, and fans are even starting to see in development gameplay clips like the one above.

While many feel that Destiny 2 still has a long way to go in order to reach the heights of its predecessor, the March update looks to be a major move in the right direction. The Crucible changes alone represent a lot of what many players have been begging for by making the pace of matches faster and less reliant on team shotting. Respawn and power ammo timers have been reduced, Iron Banner is moving back to 6v6 format, and Mayhem and Rumble are being added as rotating weekly playlists. With all of the core sandbox changes to each of the classes as well as time to kill mechanics, Destiny 2 may finally be getting back to what players were hoping for originally.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
