Destiny 2’s Season of the Splicer launched today and with it, new information in the Destiny 2 database. With the return of the Vault of Glass, Guardians have been speculating the return of the fabled Vex Mythoclast. Thanks to updated database information, Guardians finally have the answer to if the Vex Mythoclast is returning or not.

The Vex Mythoclast is a solar, single-shot, Fusion Rifle from the Vault of Glass in Destiny 1. This single-shot variant of Fusion Rifle proved to be a popular weapon not only in PVE but in the Crucible as well. With the return of the Vault of Glass in Season 14, it is no surprise that the return of the Vex Mythoclast is something Guardians have been asking for.

Fortunately for fans of the Vex Mythoclast, the fabled Fusion Rifle is returning in Season of the Splicer. Based on public API information, Light.GG has uncovered the Vex Mythoclast and its Exotic Catalyst. With the slight buff to Fusion Rifles in Destiny 2, this news has just made the return of Vault of Glass even more exciting for many Guardians.

The reprised version of the Vex Mythoclast returning in Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is not a Stasis variant as some previous leaks have mentioned but is in fact the same Solar-based Fusion Rifle occupying the Energy slot. Considering the original Vex Mythoclast came from the Vault of Glass Raid, it is safe to assume the same will be true for the returning version. The perks, however, have changed slightly from the Destiny 1 version.

Vex Mythoclast keeps its Timeless Mythoclast Exotic Perk, allowing the weapon to fire a single bolt with each trigger pull. A fresh addition to the Vex Mythoclast is the Temporal Unlimiter trait that grants stacks of Overcharge when defeating targets. After obtaining stacks of Overcharge, Guardians will then change firing modes by holding the trigger to charge up and fire more powerful linear fusion shots.

Adding in a Linear Fusion Rifle firing mode to the Destiny 2 version of the Vex Mythoclast will be a pleasant addition to the gun while retaining some of the Crowd Control perk identity from the original version. Bungie has given the Vex Mythoclast the Arrowhead Brake barrel for better recoil direction, Volatile Battery for an increased magazine size, and Hand-Laid Stock for increased Stability.

The base stats of the Vex Mythoclast are alright, but the 100 Aim Assist with a base 80 Recoil will be what truly shines on this weapon. This should allow the gun to continue to be viable in the Crucible while still being a powerful PVE weapon for any Guardian trying out the new Override Activity in Destiny 2.

Bungie has also outfitted the Vex Mythoclast with an Exotic Catalyst, Calculated Balance, that increased Stability with higher stacks of Overcharge. This Catalyst on top of the curated perks for the Vex Mythoclast should make the gun quite stable to use with its 360 RPM rate of fire.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
