A classic raid added in from Destiny 1, Destiny 2's Vault of Glass raid is a simple yet nostalgic raid experience for many veteran players. Now that raids are on a rotation for Pinnacle rewards, players still looking to raise their light will have a real reason to dive back in.

And of course, those who are looking to collect all the Timelost weapons from the Vault of Glass Master version will want to get a good grip on the raid's mechanics to be able to complete it even in hard mode. Here are a few helpful tips for Destiny 2 players before diving into the Vault of Glass.

7 Only Minotaurs Interrupt Vex Plate Progress

The first part of the raid is very self-explanatory. Players will be building a tall spire to open up the Vault door by protecting three plates while waves of Vex enemies assault them. Even ad-clearing is a struggle for players, there's no need to panic in this part, as even if the minor Vex enemies step on the plate, the progress won't be interrupted.

Minotaurs should be the primary objective for players to kill in this encounter. They are distinguished by their Void shields and ability to teleport a short distance forward, making them annoying enemies that can quickly close the distance. Having a Void weapon or build to break their shields quickly can be beneficial in this part to speed up the encounter and prevent the spire-building from being interrupted. The plate will glow in red when a minotaur steps on it.

6 Beware Of Overload Champions

Champions in raids are a bit of a headache, and aside from Last Wish, every raid has some type of champion in it. Vault of Glass comes with Overload Champions in two encounters: the Conflux encounter and the teleporter encounter before Atheon's final encounter.

Make sure to have at least one person on the fireteam on an Overload mod and weapon, so that they can be stunned in case the team is unable to do enough damage to just blow them up. Overload champions, even at low light, can be a headache because of their ability to regenerate health fast even through high damage and teleport around, thus dodging damage.

5 Stasis For Ad-Slowing Is The Best

Destiny 2 Shadebinder Fragments

Several encounters in the Vault of Glass rely on players simply clearing ads rather than doing a complex mechanic. The first encounter outside of the Vault is like that, as well as the Conflux encounter inside the Vault. It could also be argued that the teleporter encounter before Atheon's boss encounter relies on ad-clearing, too.

Whoever is in charge of ad-clear can rely on Stasis to slow the ads down. In normal mode, this might not be necessary, but if players are tackling the harder version of Vault of Glass, Stasis can be a fantastic tool to slow down enemies. Shadebinders in particular will be a powerful class for Warlocks.

Otherwise, blinding grenades and Witherhoard are great tools to keep ads in check when things get a little heated.

4 A Hunter With Omnioculus Is The Best Approach To Gorgons

Destiny 2 Omnioculus

One of the more unique encounters of Vault of Glass is the Gorgon maze filled with powerful harpies that can kill players simply by looking at them. If players feel confident they can try to sneak past the harpies by distracting them with ability sounds, but otherwise, the safest bet is to have a hunter on the fireteam.

The hunter in question can run the Omnioculus Exotic chest piece and Void subclass and turn the entire fireteam invisible. This completely trivializes the encounter. That said, players will need to huddle up together and make sure everyone gets the invisibility grenade on them. Otherwise, even one player triggering the Gorgons can kill the entire fireteam.

3 Assign Oracles In Oracle Phase

Oracles are a repeat mechanic of the Vault of Glass raid, but the toughest encounter they feature in is right before players do damage on the Templar. In this part, players need to take note of the order in which the Oracles appear and then shoot them in that correct order before time runs out.

There are seven Oracles, and each round will feature more Oracles to shoot. To make things easier, players can assign one Oracle for each player to shoot. One player can shoot both the sixth and seventh Oracle since some of the Oracles are within a manageable range of one another. Doing this prior to the encounter considerably simplifies actually completing the mechanic smoothly.

2 People Without A Relic Can Go In And Out Of Teleporters Without Penalty

This is more a niche little trick that some players might not be aware of. During the last two encounters, meaning the teleporter phase (or the Gatekeeper encounter) where players will travel to Mars and Venus, as well as Atheon's damage phase, players can move freely in and out of teleporters. The only exception is during the teleporter encounter, the player with the relic can only pass through once before getting a cooldown debuff.

During Atheon's damage phase, anyone can go in and out of the teleporters once they have been opened, though anyone going in will need to be cleansed by the Relic holder eventually. What does this mean, exactly? It means that players can complete these encounters quite flexibly and help each other out. For example, anyone not confident in their ad-clear ability inside one of these teleporters in the first phase can call for help and have a second player inside assisting them with ads.

The same goes for Atheon's damage phase, and this is especially the case in Master Vault of Glass. There will be champions inside that deal a lot of damage, so a player from the boss room can teleport in to help the three people within shoot the oracles, deal with the champions and then get out for a damage phase.

1 Leave One Harpy Alive On Both Sides During Atheon's Boss Encounter

atheon vault of glass raid

When Atheon's boss encounter begins, harpies will spawn in the sky on both sides of the arena. While they can be a real pain due to their long-range beams, players should leave one alive on both sides.

What this does is prevent more from spawning, which will make the boss room less hectic. It will also ensure that during the damage phase, players won't be beamed by a million harpies from the sky. Any harpies on the ground can be safely killed as ads will continue to spawn unless no ads are killed at all.
