Players that want to obtain the Forerunner exotic sidearm in Destiny 2 must complete a quest called Magnum Opus. Near the end of this quest, fans will be instructed to use a Strange Key, which they will have obtained in a preceding step, to open a path that leads to a mysterious object. For those players that are unclear about how to go about using the Strange Key in Destiny 2, details can be found in this guide.

Destiny 2: Strange Key Used (Magnum Opus)

The first step toward using the Strange Key is to travel to Xur’s Treasure Hoard on Eternity. Once a Destiny 2 player has loaded into this area, they should use the portal to travel to the Valley and then head forward and slightly to the right. After walking for just a short time, players will encounter a group of strange rocks, which are at the bottom of a small slope, and this is where the Strange Key is to be used.

More specifically, one of the rocks has a small rectangular object protruding from the top, and indeed this is the formation that players need to interact with. However, it can prove to be quite difficult to use the Strange Key at this rock, as fans must approach it at a very particular angle. The easiest way to demonstrate that angle is with a video, and the following clip should make it possible for players to advance to the next part of Destiny 2's Forerunner quest.

With respect to what that next part is, FPS fans should now follow a waypoint to cross the Valley, pass through a narrow pathway, and enter a cave. Inside of this cave, players will encounter a jumping puzzle that features some floating orbs and eventually leads to a Cryo Pod that contains the Anomalous Object associated with the Magnum Opus quest. While the way to get through this platforming section is fairly straightforward, the aforementioned video demonstrates the path to the container that must be looted.

With the Anomalous Object in hand, players can now talk to Banshee and claim their Forerunner exotic sidearm. From there, fans may want to pursue some of the weapons that were added to the game with the 30th Anniversary Pack. Of those weapons it is Destiny 2's Gjallarhorn exotic rocket launcher, which grants Wolfpack Rounds to nearby allies wielding non-exotic rocket launchers in its latest iteration, that most fans are likely to be excited about.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
