Instead of holding the third and final livestream event for Curse of Osiris, Bungie instead took the opportunity to respond to the growing concerns coming from its community. In the past week, Destiny 2 has been embroiled in controversy ranging from an XP system that throttled player gains to the studio's perceived lack of communication on many topics. The lengthy blog post covered a variety of topics from things coming next week to general quality of life improvements the studio aims to make in the near future. One such addition deals with vendors and their inventory of items.

As part of a December 12 for Destiny 2, Bungie is adding inventory to many of the vendors within the Tower social space. Players flush with resources from legendary shards to faction tokens now have an opportunity to purchase Faction weapons and gear directly from Lord Shaxx, Commander Zavala, and others.  Bungie goes on to note that all five armor slots will always be available, while the weapon on sale will rotate out each week on faction vendors that offer them. To unlock more options, players will need to claim reward engrams first, though the nice thing is that the game will take previous claims into account prior to this update.

The same sort of inventory enhancement is being applied to other vendors as well like Banshee-44 and the weekly exotics merchant, Xur. For Banshee-44, the gunsmith of the Tower who primarily deals in gear modifications, rare quality mods will now dismantle into Gunsmith Materials and have a chance to produce legendary quality Mod Components. Like Faction gear, Banshee will also offer a selection of Legendary Mods for direct purchase on a daily basis which players can purchase with legendary shards and Mod Components. Xur now offers players a weekly Fated Engram in exchange for legendary shards, which grants an exotic item that a player doesn't already own. The popular Three of Coins consumable is also making its grand return to the series, giving players a boost to exotic drop rates for four hours.

The blog post also details many upcoming changes to weapons as well including a new Masterworks quality tier, which aims to provide the most engaged players with new things to achieve. The most notable aspect of a masterworks version weapon is the fact that gains randomized and re-rollable stat bonuses, something which has not been seen since Destiny 1. With this update, Bungie certainly seems to be doing its best to address the many issues with the game, but it'll be interesting to see if these changes are enough to draw back those players that have left since launch.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and XBox One.
