The recent update that brought Destiny 2 into the Season of the Lost has added a number of new features and rebalances as new enemies and activities have been introduced to the series. However, a few of Destiny 2's season 15 updates weren't completely revealed in the official patch notes, including some updates to NPC models that smooth out and define some of their visuals.

One of the recent updates that were secretly added into Destiny 2 involved The Drifter, a mysterious character introduced earlier in the game's lifetime and has been growing more important in recent seasons. Considering the importance that has been levied on the character over the last several seasons, it isn't unwarranted for Bungie to want to update the look of The Drifter moving forward.

Some eagle-eyed players that the specific change on The Drifter is that the character's model has been updated to have a slightly more refined face and features. The changes are mostly minor, with the biggest difference between the Season of the Splicer and Season of the Lost versions involving the character's eyes and facial scars. In the images shared by fans, it would appear that the eyes have a more realistic sheen to them, and the scars have been softened to a degree that makes them feel more natural.

Altogether, these changes are very slight, where players may have noticed that something was off or different when looking at The Drifter, but likely wouldn't have been able to pinpoint the exact differences without a side-by-side view. Still, the update does round off some of the edges of the face, making the character look a little more realistic during the regular interactions that players will have with him when hunting daily and weekly milestones for Destiny 2's max level. It's unclear at the time of this writing what else was quietly changed under the hood, even if players have already been quick to test every new feature for secret balances and changes.

It's nothing new for Bungie to apply little changes without revealing them in the patch notes, especially for such minor alterations like smoothing out a character like The Drifter's model. There have, however, been updates in the past that players haven't been as excited to see appear without warning, such as altering some of Destiny 2's exotic weapons or activity rewards. At the moment, it doesn't seem as though Bungie has done much behind the scenes that might affect gameplay too heavily, so a few unmentioned alterations like The Drifter's face updating should be welcome for the time being.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
