For those sensitive to SPOILERS about upcoming gear in Destiny 2, turn back now.

Fans have found new UI images and a lore entry for a certain rumored Destiny 1 exotic making its return in the near future in the sequel. After doing some digging, players discovered that the Destiny 2 database contains UI images and a lore tab entry for Thunderlord, the exotic heavy machine gun from Destiny 1.

Ginsor over ot the Destiny subreddit posted images that show not only the UI image for Thunderlord but also images of two ornaments called Hypervelocity and Ta'aurc's Wrath that will be available for the weapon. Just in case anyone doubts that the images could be another weapon, the weapon's lore tab entry confirms that it is Thunderlord.

It's unknown exactly when Thunderlord will appear in-game. Fans first started expecting the weapon to show up after a trailer for Year 2's Annual Pass with the announcement that heavy machine guns would return to the game in December 2018 (the heavy machine gun weapon class was left behind in Destiny 1 and did not make the jump to the sequel). While there wasn't an official confirmation then that the heavy machine gun in question was Thunderlord, many fans expected it to be.

It's almost certain that Thunderlord will at the very least show up in the Black Armory DLC coming in December, where a number of Destiny 1 exotics are rumored to re-appear in the game as well. However, could Thunderlord be coming to Destiny 2 much sooner than that?

There's an unconfirmed possibility that it could appear later this month as part of the current Festival of the Lost live event. A new exotic was added to the game's Collections tab after Update 2.0.4 on Tuesday, which ushered in Festival of the Lost. And with Bungie promising a quest coming near the end of the event (and fan's speculating that it may lead to an exotic) there's a chance that Thunderlord may just be that quest's final reward.

Players will have to wait and see what happens when that quest goes live on October 30.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
