As it does every week, Trials of Osiris returned to Destiny 2 this Friday, making the May 14 Trials the first-ever for Destiny 2's Season 14, Season of the Splicer. Bungie launched this season only a few days ago, on May 11, following its routine of introducing a new season of content to the game every three months or so. Like the previous season updates before it, Splicer introduces new Destiny rewards for players to take advantage of, and this week's Trials contains one of the new spoils.

From now until Destiny 2's weekly reset on May 18, players can earn a new Trials of Osiris Void SMG called Shayura's Wrath, and pretty easily, too. The gun acts as this week's three-wins reward, meaning any fireteams that manage to secure three wins in Trials can grab it, and the wins don't need to be back-to-back, either. As usual, the weapon also drops via Saint 14's The End Game bounty, which gives players the three-win reward for simply participating — just in case three wins proves too difficult.

For this week, players will duke it out on the map Endless Vale. As for May 14's other Trials of Osiris rewards, they include:

  • Eye of Sol — a Kinetic sniper rifle earned with five wins.
  • Pyrrhic Ascent Chest Armor — a vest for Hunters, a plate for Titans, and a Vestment for Warlocks earned at seven wins.
  • The Messenger (Adept) — a Legendary pulse rifle earned through flawless runs.

Destiny 2 players' first impressions of Shayura's Wrath seem positive overall. SMGs don't have the best reputation in the game, but Shayura boasts a pretty decent kill time and turns into a monster of a weapon when rolled with traits like Heating Up and Kill Clip. Of course, this mostly applies to how it handles in PVP; how it functions in PVE shouldn't be too different, but the discrepancy remains. All in all, players that don't normally play Trials may find the gun worth participating for.

Season of the Splicer reintroduces Destiny's Vault of Glass raid on May 22, so even ignoring all of Shayura's positives, the gun is still worth getting. Being introduced with the season, Shayura automatically keeps pace with the risen light level, and since players have to spend this week leading up to the raid grinding anyway, they might as well hop on Trials for a little bit to get it. Grabbing the new Chest Armor will be a little more challenging, but it'll also come in handy.

Destiny 2 is on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
