The Tower is one of the most iconic and important locations in Destiny 2. Players will find all they need in the game here, including vendors, the Postmaster, and the Cryptarch Master Rahool who will trade resources and decipher engrams. In other words, it's unavoidable for players to visit the Tower in Destiny 2.

That said, it's been years since the initial release of Destiny 2, and the Tower is long overdue for profound changes. While there have been rumors about the social space potentially being moved somewhere else entirely as the story of Destiny 2 develops, it's still unclear how Bungie plans to handle this social space. For now, here's how the Tower could be improved in Destiny 2, and which quality of life changes it desperately needs.

6 Better Social Space

The social aspect of Destiny 2 is still somewhat lackluster. While there is a chat that players can join in the Tower, some players have played with the idea of adding some type of proximity voice chat to make communication easier. At the same time, such changes could also invite more potential toxicity into the game, so it's a fine line adding more social features while also giving players a pleasant experience.

Some players have also found themselves missing the idea of factions, which were introduced a few years back but failed to meaningfully become anything new or interesting. Although clans are fine as they are, the Tower could potentially feature a space where recruitment into clans, guilds, or factions or even into a temporary fireteam could become more intuitive.

5 Merge Crafting And Tower

Ever since crafting was introduced in Destiny 2, the feature has split opinions among community members. Whether players enjoy this new type of grind is one question, but to make it more convenient or not is another.

As it stands now, players will need to travel to a special, dedicated sub-location in Savathun's Throne World called the Enclave, which is in a small space on Mars. This social space is fine during The Witch Queen campaign, but now it seems far too big to be used only for crafting. It could be that Bungie plans to expand on this place later in the future, perhaps moving some vendors here if a disaster strikes the Last City.

Another option is to have a smaller version of the relic in the Tower for quick crafting. It's just a bit inconvenient in a game with such long loading times to be going back and forth between the Tower and the Enclave to get materials, talk to vendors, and then go back to crafting.

4 Update The Tower To Reflect The Story Or Season

Although the Tower does change its appearance during special events, after Solstice 2022 some players have pleaded with Bungie to keep the additional decor like grass and plants in the Tower. This is understandable, given how barren the default Tower is, and how much empty space there is without anything to fill it up.

It might make the Tower run slower, but if there was a way to keep performance high while also changing the Tower's appearance to reflect the passing of time, the story, and even the seasons, Bungie should seize it. As it stands now, the default Tower is still too static, with vendors speaking voice lines from the beginning of the Red War that simply no longer make any sense.

3 Put Vendors Closer Together

Another common complaint players might have about the Tower is how so many of its vendors are scattered in different locations. While most of them can be accessed through the Landing Zones, this can still be tedious and slow during hours when there are more players online—even after Bungie decided to limit the number of players in the Tower.

In terms of efficiency, it would be far more convenient to have the vendors in a tighter space, but still within their own element. This would save players time if they need to pick up vendor rewards. Luckily, bounties can already be purchased in orbit using the Destiny Companion App.

2 Landing Zone For The Hangar

Speaking of using Landing Zones, there's one area in the Tower that really needs one: the Hangar. Here, players can always find two vendors: Amanda Holliday and Saint-14. While only Saint-14 is important on a weekly basis as he sells Trials of Osiris passage cards, Xur will also occasionally show up here on Fridays and weekends.

As such, having a Landing Zone in this area could make visiting these vendors a bit more efficient and convenient, even if it's only a short distance away from the main Landing Zone, and the Annex is technically much further away.

1 Performance Issue Fixes

One of the greatest complaints about Destiny 2's Tower has been the abysmal performance since the release of The Witch Queen expansion. Bungie has been hard at work trying to mend these performance issues, which will usually make viewing the player character impossible or slow while in the Tower.

Luckily, with Bungie recently limiting the number of players per Tower, this is likely one of the top priorities for the developers and will no doubt receive immense performance fixes in the future to ensure players have a smooth time while visiting the vendors.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
