The fact that Gambit is one of Destiny 2's most neglected game modes is not news, and it has several issues that stem from the merge of regular Gambit and Gambit Prime. The game mode now only consists of a single round, which makes it rather fast-paced, but it can also make it extremely unbalanced depending on several factors, including builds and invasions. Recently, a Destiny 2 player defeated enemy Guardians 7 times after being killed in an invasion, and that drastically changed the course of the match.

Teams who play it right can have plenty of invasions available leading up to summoning the Primeval, completely negating enemy players their Motes and stalling their side of the map. Likewise, having builds that melt Gambit's Primeval can also be problematic for the opposing team, who then usually loses the match in a matter of seconds. These things show how desperately Gambit needs an overhaul, and while Destiny 2's The Witch Queen expansion will bring changes to the game mode, given the scope of the release, it's likely that these will mostly consist of minor tweaks and adjustments.

A Reddit user by the name of BrotatoChip04 shared a clip that shows both issues with Gambit and a specific Titan build. As for Gambit issues, they consist of the Primeval having a very small health pool and rather weak adds spawning alongside it, which means that getting rid of the Envoys and then melting the Primeval before it spawns more is very easy to achieve. As it stands, the Primeval roughly has to have around 200k to 250k HP, which is a lot less than Destiny 2's Dungeon bosses like Kell Echo, who has around 8 million - and it still can be melted with a properly geared team.

The second issue is that a very specific Titan build has been dominating the meta for a while, and that is middle tree Sunbreaker with Throwing Hammers, Elemental Well mods, Tractor Cannon, and a One-Two Punch shotgun. This combination is capable of melting all bosses in the game, including some Raid and Dungeon bosses. In fact, Destiny 2's Grasp of Avarice boss was killed in one melee hit with this exact same build, which goes a long way in expressing how strong it is.

Bosses being defeated too soon is one of the game's problems, and Destiny 2 players can now melt Lake of Shadows' boss faster than before thanks to a new strategy, despite Bungie's buffs to its health pool. The problem might be power creep, but if that's the case, then Gambit should be adjusted accordingly moving forward.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
