Any fans of the latest seasonal exotic weapon for Destiny 2, Ticuu’s Divination, will want to complete the catalyst as quickly as possible. The catalyst, which allows the damage of perfectly drawn Causality Arrows to increase, makes the bow much more effective against boss enemies, as repeatedly scoring perfectly drawn precision hits will now do far more damage.

The exotic catalyst quest tasks players with completing several easy but time-consuming objectives. Any player that has already acquired Ticuu’s Divination can complete the exotic catalyst quest, which means it is available to all players, so long as they have reached level 35 on the season pass or paid for the premium season pass.

Updated by Payton Lott on June 4, 2021: Ticuu's Divination provides a different experience in both PVP and PVE. While it may not be the best weapon in the game, it is a ton of fun to use. The bow literally has aimbot when fired from the hip, and deals catastrophic critical hit damage. In PVE, the weapon is definitely viable for raids because of how versatile it is. In Trials, on the other hand, Ticuu's Divination is more of a meme than an effective weapon. After completing all of the objectives, guardians will want to make sure they are using the upgraded exotic correctly to get the most out of the additional bonuses.

Exotic Catalyst Quest

season of the chosen exotic bow catalyst guide two

Once players have acquired Ticuu’s Divination, they need to speak to Banshee-44, the gunsmith vendor found in the Tower, to get the exotic catalyst quest. This quest is titled “Points Piercing Forever,” and only has three parts, the final of which is just to speak to Banshee to collect the catalyst itself.

Step one has three very easy and self-explanatory objectives to complete:

  • Collect 100 Orbs of Power
  • Defeat 50 Guardians
  • Defeat 100 combatants

Orbs of Power can be generated by Guardians getting kills with their Super ability and by getting multi-kills with masterwork weapons. It is worth noting that Guardians can only collect their own orbs if they are from multi-kills with masterwork weapons. Playing any PVE activity, such as strikes or the new Battlegrounds activity, while using masterwork weapons is the best method for this step. Playing these PVE activities will also allow players to complete the ‘defeat 100 combatants objective’.

Defeating 50 Guardians may take some players a while but it can easily be completed in a few matches of Control in the Crucible. It is worth pointing out that these objectives can be completed with any weapons. Players do not need to be using Ticuu’s Divination for the first step of the catalyst quest.

Second Quest Step

Once players have completed those objectives, they will be moved on to step two of the quest:

  • 200 Calibration data generated
  • 50 Guardians defeated with Ticuu’s Divination
  • 100 Combatants defeated with Ticuu’s Divination

One calibration data is generated for every Strike, Nightfall Strike, Gambit match, and Crucible match completed. Players can earn two data if they win the Crucible or Gambit match, or if they complete a Nightfall Strike on Legend difficulty or higher. This is by far the longest objective of the entire quest and simply requires players to do the core activities in Destiny 2 repeatedly.

The other two objectives require players to defeat Guardians and combatants with Ticuu’s Divination. 100 combatants can be killed easily across several Strikes, so long as players are using the bow as much as possible. Getting kills with Ticuu’s Divination in Crucible is not easy and requires players to be quite defensive. This step also only counts final blows with the bow, so any assists will not count.

Season Pass Quest Boosts And Final Steps

Destiny 2 Ticuu's Divination Bow Weapon

At levels 11 and 22 on the Season of the Chosen season pass, players will unlock the Catalyst Quest Boost Alpha and Omega perks, respectively. The Alpha perk doubles all progress towards the catalyst, effectively halving the amount of work required for each objective. Meanwhile, the Omega perk quadruples quest progress, which cuts each requirement down to a quarter of their original values.

Getting these progress boosting perks is essential, especially for the objectives in step two. Having the Omega perk unlocked cuts down the required number of Guardian kills with Ticuu’s Divination from 50 to just 13. Likewise, each activity completion generates four calibration data instead of one. Once those three objectives for step two have been completed, the final step of the quest is to return to Banshee in the Tower to collect the exotic catalyst. Once acquired, players should open their character screens, inspect Ticuu’s Divination, and equip the catalyst in its slot.

Ticuu's Divination Stats And Traits

Destiny 2 Ticuu's Divination Bow

Ticuu's Divination is one of the coolest exotic weapons added to the game since launch. First, it is one of the few bows in Destiny 2. Second, the arrows explode, killing multiple adds at once. The intrinsic trait of the bow allows guardians to hip fire tracking projectiles that explode on death or when struck by another arrow. Causality Arrows cause any arrow fired while aiming down sight to explode on impact.

  • Impact: 68
  • Accuracy: 52
  • Stability: 57
  • Handling: 69
  • Reload Speed: 64 ms
  • Draw Time: 612 ms
  • Aim Assistance: 79
  • Recoil: 60

The catalyst now allows arrow damage to increase through a stacking buff of the Causality Arrows perk, which is activated every time a perfectly drawn arrow hits an enemy that has been primed with Sacred Flames, causing an explosion. This means that perfectly drawn arrows not only cause Sacred Flames to detonate, they also increase the damage of that arrow. The catalyst also resets the five-second countdown of the stacking Causality Arrows buff every time an enemy that has not been primed with Sacred Flames is hit.

Usage In PVE And PVP

Destiny 2 Ticuu's Divination Bow Guardian

The bow and its exotic catalyst are amazing in PVE. Hip-fire shots will control crowds of adds at once, while the catalyst provides an extremely high DPS when aiming down sight. Against single targets and bosses, the hip-fire arrows will provide a lasting burn effect that detonates when a perfectly drawn arrow is fired. Gamers will essentially be inflicting three different types of damage on a target with one final massive critical blow. The weapon is really fun to use and exceptional in PVE.

In PVP, however, the bow is just too difficult to be consistent with. Players have to get a hip-fire shot in and then follow it up with an arrow while aiming down sight. Most people that play PVP have caught on to the way the weapon is used. Opponents will refuse to peek once Sacred Flames hits them. Still, it is nice to mix up gameplay by trying something new. If used correctly, it will eliminate guardians in an instant.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light and the new Season of the Chosen are available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
