One of Destiny 1’s most controversial weapons has made its way to Destiny 2 thanks to the new Thorn quest for Season of the Drifter. As long as they own the Annual Pass, Destiny 2 players are free to start and complete the Thorn quest at their leisure, but there has been some confusion regarding how to get things started.

To start the Thorn quest, players want to head to the Salt Mines area in the European Dead Zone. This is the area behind the church in the Trostland EDZ landing zone and is marked on the map to avoid any confusion.

Destiny 2 players should make their way through the Salt Mines until they reach a transmat elevator. This same item was used in an early campaign mission during the Red War, simply go up to it and hold the interact button to activate a teleport.

Once at the top of the area, head up the hill a little farther and through a side cave next to the pathway that is blocked off. Through the cave should be a little camp – go up to the extinguished camp fire and hold the interact button to sift through the ashes.

Now, with the Melted Hunk of Metal quest step item in hand, players are free to start the process of repairing Thorn and bringing it to its former glory. Be prepared, though, because the Thorn quest is very involved and requires completing a lot of different tasks.

Based on where players find Thorn it appears that somebody was trying to burn the exotic hand cannon but was not fully successful. There is a lot of lore behind Thorn and the other Weapons of Sorrow, so fans of Destiny’s story should pay attention to the various lore tab entries that appear along the quest.

As for whether Thorn is as strong in Destiny 2 as it was in Destiny 1 (for a time), we will have to wait and see. As of this writing, most Destiny 2 players are still working on the quest.

Destiny 2: Season of the Drifter is live for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
