The next season of Destiny 2 seems to be planning to finally make some massive lore reveals about everything from the nature of the darkness to the truth about characters like the Drifter. However, one theory coming from the Beyond Light triumphs might suggest that another character may finally be returning, almost two years after having been revealed to be revived as a guardian.

This latest Destiny 2 theory actually comes from a few different sources from all over the 'Raid Secrets' subreddit that is dedicated to diving into the lore hidden throughout the series. The theory was originally posted by Reddit user u/blamite in response to some new information revealed through the latest 'This Week at Bungie' post on the Bungie blog, and has been corroborated by more discoveries made by user u/Museskate4.

Essentially, what the theory boils down to is that Bungie released images of the triumphs coming to Destiny 2 in Beyond Light, including some the emblems for the different categories for those achievements. One in particular resembles an otherwise unused emblem from an early build of the original Destiny, specifically one where Uldren Sov was a much more prominent character in the story. This is where u/blamite's theory comes in, as he assumes that the presence of the emblem might mean that the character will finally be coming back into the story as either a primary quest-giver or vendor.

While the speculation is rather thin on its own, u/Museskate4's post highlights a tweet from Narrative Designer Robert Brookes, who seems to suggest that this is indeed the plan for this new emblem reveal. Brooks even calls back to Destiny by quoting a previously cut line that was originally meant to be spoken by Uldren back when he was referred to as The Crow, "Out here in the wild, this is how we talk." Given the nature of early lore hints like this, Uldren's return still can't be completely confirmed, but all signs are pointing strongly towards the character having a strong role in future story content.

The absence of Uldren for the past two years of Destiny 2 content has been strange since the reveal that he was revived as a guardian during the events in the Dreaming City in the months after the initial Forsaken release. So, while it certainly is interesting to see the character's return coming alongside the new Beyond Light content, it begs the question of why he's been absent for so long. Granted, for some players more invested into the lore, this could be exactly the set of reveals that they've been waiting for.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
