Ever since its introduction was confirmed, Destiny 2 fans have been wanting to get their hands on the exotic Last Word hand cannon. Now, a few details concerning the Destiny 2 quest line required to get The Last Word have been revealed (though it isn't available quite yet), which could very well include Thorn and yet another exotic Weapon of Sorrow.

To begin the quest for The Last Word, players will discover a mysterious Hive artifact, which the Drifter thinks is somehow connected to the Weapons of Sorrow. For the uninitiated, the Weapons of Sorrow are guns corrupted by the Hive (though some are related to this group through other means) and include Thorn, Necrochasm, Touch of Malice, and Malfeasance. The drifter will then provide Destiny 2 players with pages from a dark book to help further the player's understanding of this weapon group.

The book will help cleanse the Hive artifact, which will then hunger for light and require players to get Guardian kills in the Crucible. Afterward, there is a mission called Damnation which requires Destiny 2 players to interrupt a Hive ritual on Titan. Thus far, many may recognize the similarities between this quest and the Thorn quest, but this is where the path diverges and gets interesting.

The Drifter will reveal that the artifact and Weapons of Sorrow are related to Xyor the Unwed, which many lovers of Destiny 2 lore may very well realize is the witch who cursed the titan Rezzyl Azir. She is responsible for turning this Guardian into Dredgen Yor and his hand cannon Rose into Thorn. All of this is somehow involved with the main boss of the quest line - which could be the resurrected Hive Knight that Xyor was betrothed to - but the mystery continues on.

Regardless of what or who the main boss actually is, it can be seen around the 2:38 mark in the above video. In its hand, it holds a weapon that appears to be a new Weapon of Sorrow, meaning that it could be a drop from the boss. Of course, this is unknown at the moment, like many other concrete details concerning the quest, but hopefully, Destiny 2 fans will learn more soon.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
