For many Destiny 2 players, the Crucible and PvP portions of the game remain an area that needs a bit of a rework. Rumors continue to swirl regarding the upcoming season, which many believe will finally be focused on PvP due to the expected return of the Trials of Osiris. Many are hoping that the game will receive those much needed updates and changes before the highly requested mode returns and potentially gets caught up with these frustrations and inconsistencies. While Bungie continues to be mostly silent on next season, one area the community has taken issue with may be getting fixed sooner than later.

Responding to feedback on Twitter regarding Fusion Rifles, Destiny 2 community manager dmg04 reveals that Bungie has been looking into these weapons for a while. In addition, Bungie will have more to say about what's changing in the sandbox in the next couple of weeks as they preview the changes before the new season arrives in March. While he stops short of saying whether or not Fusion Rifles are getting nerfed, it hasn't stopped the community from speculating that certain Fusions are going to be brought back in line with other weapon types.

The news came in response to a video published by CoolGuy discussing Fusion Rifles and why many of these weapons like Jotunn have become so good in the Crucible and Destiny 2 meta. CoolGuy's video does a deep dive into this weapon class and attempts to analyze the rise in popularity, what works, and what doesn't. The over 20 minute video clearly struck a chord with dmg04, who made sure to give it a shout out which ultimately triggered the nerf comment.

Many have begun to speculate that this means Bungie is preparing nerfs for these style of weapons largely due to how popular certain ones have become in activities like the Crucible. Erentil has largely become the face of Fusion Rifles due to how strong it is and its long range capabilities, especially against other players. It's a weapon that comes with the High-impact frame intrinsic perk which makes the gun hit much harder and become even more accurate when aiming down the sights. When mixed with certain perks like Backup plan, this gun becomes even more high powered, leading many opposing players to complain about the weapon's usage rates.

This season also saw the popular Telesto exotic fusion rifle once again cause problems for the Destiny 2 community. The fan favorite weapon has had a history of breaking certain elements in the game and for this latest issue, players have discovered up to four more glitches related to the exotic. These ranged from the more innocent ones like being able to spawn special ammo when using a seasonal mod called Heavy Handed to more major issues such as Telesto rounds giving players different buffs or benefits they wouldn't normally earn. While Bungie has attempted to fix many of these issues, Telesto continues to seemingly best the developer as the weapon continues to have odd side-effects after each patch.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
