The number of different mod combinations in Destiny 2 seems endless thanks to the game's huge variety of abilities and perks, and one player has pointed out a way that certain rocket launchers can be used to greater effect thanks to the new powers provided by Strand. Introduced along with Lightfall, Destiny 2's latest expansion, this new Darkness subclass allows players to manipulate the unseen threads which bind the universe in order to annihilate foes in completely new ways.

Strand was a subject of great anticipation among fans during the build up to Destiny 2: Lightfall, and it seems that it didn't disappoint in its delivery. This new power, accessible only to Guardians who own the latest expansion, has given fans the ability to craft entirely new builds based on the new aspects, fragments, and grenades that it offers. Not only that, it also allows Guardians to traverse the battlefield in an entirely new way, with the Grapple ability allowing them to swing over city streets and pull themselves towards enemies. Of course, the plethora of new fragments accommodates the design of more niche builds as well, with players continually discovering new ways to take advantage of these powers.

One such example was recently shared in a post on Reddit by the user Durithil, who demonstrated that Strand's Grapple ability can combo particularly well with rocket launchers with the Demolitionist perk. For players who are unaware, the Demolitionist perk causes weapons to generate grenade energy on kills as well as reload automatically whenever a grenade is used, allowing Guardians to reload and fire rockets much faster simply by grappling with Strand as seen in the provided clip. Though this can make rocket launchers even more potent for damage phases in certain activities, players should keep in mind that the Thread of Ascent fragment will need to be used in conjunction with the Demolitionist perk to maximize rate of fire. This Strand fragment also reloads weapons upon using a grenade ability, which essentially allows players to bypass the cooldowns on both aforementioned perks.

Opinions among Destiny 2 fans online remain mixed for the moment, though many aren't happy about the extremely long cooldown times that many Strand abilities suffer from. What's more, the new mod system introduced with Lightfall certainly compromises the more developed builds used by players throughout the game's previous year, and many fans are struggling to achieve the ability upkeep that they were maintaining previously as a result of these changes.

Overall, Destiny 2: Lightfall has unfortunately resulted in considerable disappointment for fans online, with the majority of the criticism being directed toward the narrative present in the expansion. Bungie has since assured players in its latest TWAB post that "this is just the beginning of the next year of storytelling," promising that the seasons ahead will answer the questions of many fans as the story reaches its crescendo in The Final Shape.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
