Destiny 2 has arguably reached the peak of its narrative and gameplay feeling in Year 4, ever since the Beyond Light expansion launched last November. Beyond Light came with an atmospheric new location in the form of the frozen Europa and its Bray facilities, which added a lot to the game's already incredible scenery, and it was also the perfect place to introduce Destiny 2 players to the first Darkness subclass - Stasis. The Darkness playing a major role in Destiny 2's storyline was foreshadowed a long time ago, and when it finally showed up to grant the Guardian new powers, players were very excited to see what would come after.

Stasis is an incredible tool for all Destiny 2 players to use in both PvE and PvP, and it is the first subclass in the game to come with Aspects and Fragments to customize what it does. This also meant that players would inevitably find the most powerful combinations and exploit them wherever possible, which eventually made Stasis a tad too strong in PvP. This is still the case despite a lot of nerfs, which also ended up hurting the subclass' viability in PvE, but in PvP, the situation has become insufferable to some players.

Destiny 2 content creator and YouTuber by the name of Datto shared their frustration on social media over having to deal with Stasis and the Hunters' Shatterdive, and Bungie replied - twice. The first time, Datto's tweet landed a response from Kevin Yates, the Sandbox Discipline Lead at Bungie, stating that Shatterdive has already been nerfed in the patch that will be available on December 7, when the 30th Anniversary Pack launches. The second is from today, as Yates replied to another tweet about how Stasis crystals can freeze just by vicinity, stating that more nerfs to Stasis abilities and freezes are coming soon.

In the tweet, Yates confirms that Titans' Barricades will no longer destroy Stasis crystals, which could often lead to problematic interactions, and the crystals' ability to freeze will be reduced. As such, the December patch will likely promote a more gunplay-oriented sandbox in Destiny 2, where abilities have a reduced impact - at least in PvP.

With all the nerfs to Shatterdive, Dunemarchers, and Vex Mythoclast, the December patch is going to be one of the biggest sandbox patches to release this year, leading into The Witch Queen. It's important to note that there will be buffs too, like those teased for Whisper of the Worm and Fighting Lion, meaning that Destiny 2 players will have something to look forward to.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
