With the release of the 30th Anniversary event in Destiny 2, players were introduced to a new character that has quickly become a community favorite: Starhorse, the celestial steed hosts the Dares of Eternity event alongside Xur in Destiny 2's latest mode.

Shortly after the release of the 30th Anniversary event, Bungie released its annual The Dawning event. Players with a keen eye were quick to notice that upon completing Dares of Eternity they had a new item in their inventory, a Cosmic Sugar Cube.

The Cosmic Sugar Cube is described as "A small crystalline hexahedron, each facet encrusted with miniature sugared galaxies. It shimmers in and out of this reality. You believe a certain impossible horse might appreciate this." Once acquired, players should head to Xur's Treasure Room to turn it in for a Dawning gift from the eternal horse. Though, they should be careful as there is an option to destroy the sugar cube within the inventory.

Earning the Cosmic Sugar Cube takes a little luck and a little perseverance. It is a random drop from the Treasure Ogre boss that sometimes spawns during the Dares of Eternity second boss encounter. Since this boss doesn't spawn every time and it doesn't always drop the Cosmic Sugar cube, it may take players several runs to acquire the sugary treat for their starry friend. The item itself functions like any other baked good that guardians can craft during The Dawning, except it is complete on its own and doesn't require anything further than to turn it in once acquired.

This isn't the first time that Bungie has added an item similar to this in Destiny 2. However, items like this typically end up dropping during the Festival of the Lost and either take players on a short quest or do nothing at all. Most notable and recent was the Ascendant Lens. The Ascendant Lens was a reward of sorts that players could obtain from Spider after completing a secret quest during the 2020 Festival of the Lost. After opening 45 chests in the Haunted Forest, Spider would have a new quest that granted the Ascendant Lens. But, the lens didn't do anything. Well, not for a year at least. During this year's Festival of the Lost, players could turn the Ascendant Lens into Mara Sov and get a Bottomless Goody Bag in return.

The Cosmic Sugar Cube is a fun little addition to an already playful character. It shows Bungie having fun and leaning into fans' love of a new character. So, for those looking to get something special for Starhorse this year, there is a way.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
