Destiny 2's newest dungeon Spire of the Watcher brings guardians back to Mars, where a Seraph facility has been discovered, now overrun with Vex enemies. The dungeon is significantly shorter than previous dungeons in the game and includes three major encounters.

After opening the doorway into the bottom of the Spire and going through the jumping puzzle, players will have started their journey through the Tower and its secrets. This guide will break down the details of the dungeon's first encounter in Destiny 2, the Spire Ascent.

How To Complete The Spire Ascent Encounter

Destiny 2 Ares Spire-1

The first real encounter of Spire of The Watcher in the Ares Spire zone. Rally the flag in the abandoned control room and jump out of the window, to the right, to make it on the outside platforms of the tower.

Destiny 2 Cables And Nodes

There are numerous platforms and cables that circle the side of the tower. Yellow cables will connect to little rectangular nodes, which can be found up, down, and hidden underneath objects, so take note of their locations.

Destiny 2 Minotaur

To start the encounter, find the platform where a Minotaur with a Void shield is idling. Kill it, and it will drop a white pool. Standing in this pool grants the player the Arctrician buff that lasts for 30 seconds.

During this time, players can shoot the rectangular nodes that the yellow cables are connected to. Each time a node is shot, the timer is extended. The goal of the encounter is to power all the nodes around the tower at each level, in order to activate the anti-gravity lift to the next floor and repeat the process.

Destiny 2 Powered Node And Unpowered Node-1

Once all yellow cables glow in blue, the anti-gravity lift will activate. A ton of ads will spawn during this time. Harpies, Goblins, and other Vex enemies will be assaulting the fireteam, and it's easy to get overwhelmed with ads, even if there's no boss to complicate matters.

Since there's no time limit to the encounter itself, players can simply take their time and dedicate one person to dealing with ads (someone with a good ad-clear build will do well here), while two others activate the tower. If players run out of the Arctrician buff, they can simply head back to the original platform where the Minotaur first spawned and kill it again to regain the buff.

Destiny 2 Arc Current

The second level adds an additional environmental hazard: moving arc currents. Players can dodge these easily by not walking through the current. The third level doesn't have hazards but has platforms that extend to the side and more nodes in inconvenient spots, so players will need to jump around and take angles more than on the first level.

After the third level is cleared, the encounter is finished and the chest is found on the shadowed side of the tower, right in front of the path leading further into the dungeon.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
