Destiny 2’s second expansion is now available, and included in the expansion is the second raid lair, Spire of Stars, which launches this Friday. Thanks to Reddit user TheEcumene, who datamined Destiny 2, we now have an idea of what the premise of the second raid lair will be. If you want to go into the raid completely blind, this is your spoiler warning.

Fans have been speculating that the Hive would be the main enemy of the second raid lair, just as the Vex were the main enemy in the Curse of Osiris raid lair, but it seems that isn’t the case. The datamine contains a slew of audio files, ranging from story audio to the new raid lair. It looks like the upcoming raid lair is reintroducing everybody’s favorite clapping Cabal, Emperor Calus. This time, however, it seems we are protecting him from a Red Legion incursion. In the files, there are a whopping 56 different Calus lines, ranging from commands, to dialogue, to weird laughter.

It seems that a new Cabal figure has stepped up to fill Ghaul’s shoes. Calus’ dialogue indicates that “Cau’ul” may be leading the charge to take over the Leviathan and dethrone Calus for good. It’s currently not clear if Cau’ul is the final boss we need to beat to get the new gear, but it seems likely. To prepare for this, players may want to spend some time searching for the fan favorite Sleeper Simulant, which made its return with Warmind. The powerful linear fusion rifle will certainly come in handy, especially since linear fusion rifles received a precision damage buff with yesterday’s update.

The new Spire of Stars raid lair may be more challenging than the previous raids, as Bungie dialed up the lethality of higher level enemies with Warmind. Players who plan to tackle the raid should be well equipped and prepared to face off against enemies that will surely pack a punch.
