With the release of the massive Forsaken expansion, Destiny 2 added tons of new supers, including the Spectral Blades for Nightstalker Hunters. At first, this super was the not the most well-received, but following a "super buff" a few months ago, it seems that the developer Bungie has seen fit to nerf Spectral Blades.

This appears to be mainly due to the super's role in the Crucible meta, so Bungie is outlining a few plans to reign in the Spectral Blades super. The two issues that the developer is taking a closer look at are the length of the super and the survivability of the Destiny 2 player who activates it. For the former, this is especially an issue when combined with Gwisin Vest, though the developer is uncertain about changing the Vest.

For the duration of the Destiny 2 Spectral Blades super, Bungie is looking at reducing the out-of-stealth length and the in-stealth length with no attacking by 3 seconds. It is also increasing the light melee cost by 50%, which may seem like a lot on paper, but considering it was next to nothing before, the now self-publishing developer Bungie believes this will go a long way in balancing the super.

The damage reduction of the super has also been reduced by 12%, both in-stealth and out-of-stealth. The stats before this nerf gave the Spectral Blades super the highest damage reduction of all roaming supers, with this nerf reducing it to the low end effectively. Because of the stealth component, the vision through walls, and the speed bump that already benefited survivability, Bungie thinks that the lower DR will result in better planning and positioning to effectively execute this Destiny 2 super.

In case this nerf doesn't go as intended, Bungie also went on to explain that this is the first experiment of a roaming Destiny 2 super with lower damage reduction. Notably, the current states of the super can be felt in the Crucible, where players are also wanting the Reveler's Tonic removed from Competitive Crucible (though this seems unlikely).

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
