The Solstice of Heroes is beginning once again in Destiny 2, bringing fresh challenges for the summer. Bungie's free-to-play sci-fi shooter has always thrived on the strength of its events and expansions, and this is the third Solstice of Heroes it has hosted. Just like in previous years, Destiny 2 players will receive an armor set that can be improved throughout the event.

The Solstice of Heroes armor, which is different for each class, can be upgraded three times. The first level, Renewed, is fairly straightforward, while the second, Majestic, is more difficult. Finally, players will be faced with five challenges in order to unlock the armor's glowing ultimate form, Magnificent. This effect makes the armor set emanate white light, and can be completed even after the event has ended.

Helm and Hands

The method of unlocking the glow of the Solstice armor sets is the same for each class. Each of the five pieces of armor need to be completed individually with their specific challenge. To unlock the armor glow on a Helmet, players must complete a Nightfall Ordeal on Master difficulty. This is the hardest difficulty level, and has a recommended Light level of 980.

Unlocking the Gauntlets' glow is also tricky, and requires players to complete a Nightmare Hunt. These Moon-based events bring back some of the series' most formidable boss fights, with new and improved features. Fortunately, this glow can be unlocked on easier difficulty settings than Master.

Chest, Boots and Class Item

Another PvE mission is required to unlock the glow on the Solstice Chest, specifically, completing the Pit of Heresy. This dungeon was first introduced in the Shadowkeep expansion, and throws players into the Scarlet Keep, where they must fight their way through a horde of the Hidden Swarm. Next, unlocking the glow on the Solstice Boots requires players to win seven Trials of Osiris matches, though they don't have to be in one passage. This is perhaps one of the simplest challenges in the set.

Finally, to unlock the glow for the Class Item players must complete a Tier 5 Altar of Sorrows three times. Tier 5 of the Escalation-style event challenges players with eight Nightmares, as well as six Wizards. If this seems like too much work however, there is another way to unlock glowing armor. After completing the Majestic armor players will be able to purchase new Universal Ornaments at the Eververse. These will glow the same color as the character's elemental subclass, and can be applied to any armor in the game.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in development.
