Destiny 2 has evolved a lot throughout the years, and the best examples of that are some of its first major content updates from years ago compared to the current content. The Shattered Throne dungeon found in the Dreaming City is one of the first of its kind to ever be released for Destiny 2, and the activity is definitely showing its age.

Although the dungeon feels shorter and easier than most newer dungeons like Duality and Grasp of Avarice, players attempting to conquer The Shattered Throne now that it's on a weekly reward rotation with the rest of the dungeons might still run into some minor issues. Here are a few tips to make running through this dungeon easier.

6 Put On The Taken Spec Mod

The Shattered Throne is a dungeon focused on Taken enemies, and they are absolutely rampant everywhere the player goes in this dungeon. While many of the dungeon's areas are big with a ton of distance, there's a decent amount of enemies players need to watch out for.

If players have completed the Last Wish raid several times, chances are they have the Taken spec mod, which allows them to deal extra damage to Taken enemies. Equipping this on a Kinetic or Energy weapon will make running this dungeon a piece of cake, as players will have a constant damage boost against all enemies regardless of their type (Minor, Major, etc).

5 Watch Out For Environmental Hazards

While the mechanics and enemies shouldn't be too much of an issue in Shattered Throne, one detail might drive players crazy: the environmental hazards. Not only will there be those Taken spots on floors and walls that will blast the player away, but there are also Phalanxes that will boost guardians away with their shields.

One of the worst environmental hazards is the catwalk area with several ogres patrolling the beams the fireteam must cross. In this case, it's best to kill the ogres first before attempting to cross, since they have a good attack range and their blast can send the player falling. Respawn time in this part is also long, so killing them off first is a time-saver in the long run for players not too confident in their jumping skills.

4 Apply Sniper Damage Resistance

Another significant danger in the Shattered Throne is the abundance of Taken Hobgoblins, which will attempt to snipe the players from afar. Despite the dungeon being old, these Hobgoblins can do a lot of damage and flinch the player significantly.

Those who haven't reached the light cap yet with their gear should apply a sniper damage resistance mod just in case. These Hobgoblins tend to be scattered far away on various ledges in the dungeon, so killing them isn't always convenient for the player either. This is why it's best to defend first.

3 Long Range Weapons Are Key

The Shattered Throne dungeon is a bit different from Pit of Heresy and Grasp of Avarice in the sense that it features a whole range of areas with a lot of open air. This means that players will be hard-pressed to find success with melee-range weapons like swords and glaives, or short-range weapons like shotguns.

It's best to favor long-range weapons for this dungeon in order to deal with enemies afar that can still deal quite a bit of damage or flinch. Sniper rifles are the ultimate choice but might feel like a waste of weapon slot for some, so using a long-range pulse rifle or scout rifle is probably the best, most convenient option. Players feeling a bit adventurous can even go for a linear fusion rifle if they so wish.

2 Move As A Group During Vorgeth's Encounter

Destiny 2 Vorgeth

Vorgeth's encounter in the dungeon is pretty unique, and the mechanic is quite self-explanatory. Players should travel around the room killing Taken Wizards, and picking up orbs that they leave behind. These orbs will grant them the Petitioner's Burden debuff, which must be collected four times and then banked on one of the room's pillars to make Vorgeth weak and ready for damage.

Since players will be a on constant 45-second timer here, it's best to focus the Taken Wizards as a group, one at a time. This will make killing them much faster, especially since the ads nearby might tether themselves to the Wizards and make them immune for a little while. Vorgeth itself is an easy boss to kill, and players can use either linear fusion rifles or rocket launchers to finish him off.

1 How To Defeat Dul Incaru Quickly

Destiny 2 Dul Incaru In Shattered Throne

Dul Incaru is the dungeon's final boss, and her battle takes place in a relatively cramped boss arena. Three Hive knights will be surrounding her and must be defeated before Dul Incaru can be damaged. They will drop orbs similarly to the Vorgeth encounter, and once picked up the damage phase begins for 45 seconds, after which players need to cleanse on the pedestal found in the center of the tower.

The trick to making the fight quick and painless is to kill the knights at the same time to collect their buffs and deal the maximum amount of damage in the 45-second window. To do so, players can chip away at the knights' health until they're all equally low and then quickly kill them off at once. This alone, with the addition of any debuffs like weaken from Void and buffs like radiant from Solar, should be enough to kill Dul Incaru in a single damage phase and complete the dungeon.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
