Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is only a few months away, which means that developer Bungie will soon be peeling back the layers regarding what experiences players can expect in the upcoming Year 3 expansion. In the meantime, however, new details seem to surface daily – sharing small details about the new content and rewards players will unlock.

This week, one Destiny 2 fan looked through the game description details for Shadowkeep and discovered a pre-order bonus tied to the DLC. Apparently, if players pre-order Destiny 2: Shadowkeep on digital storefronts or purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition they will unlock a Hive-themed ornament for the Two-Tailed Fox exotic rocket launcher.

Two-Tailed Fox is one of the exotics introduced with Destiny 2: Forsaken – a rocket launcher that actually fires two rockets simultaneously, one to debuff and one to do big damage. Its current design features a Jade Rabbit-esque pink sheen, so a Hive rebrand could give it a little grittier look.

As of yet, Bungie has yet to discuss the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep pre-order bonus and whether or not more are planned. Presumably, there will be a marketing image with the Hive ornament on full display so that players can see what exactly they are getting with their pre-order.

In the past, Destiny pre-orders have included exclusive items and exotic weapons, like Coldheart in Destiny 2, but this time Bungie is seemingly trying to restrict bonuses to cosmetics. While under Activision there were major content splits between the various platforms, Bungie’s split from Activision has put the focus on uniting players rather than separate them.

Nowhere is that more evident than in Bungie’s initiative to bring cross save to Destiny 2, something that Activision was reportedly against. Starting with Shadowkeep’s release in September, players will be able to designate a single Destiny 2 account as their “cross save account” and they will have access to those characters on any platform they choose.

The incentive to switch platforms will also be greater thanks to the release of Destiny 2: New Light, which will bundle all of the Year 1 content as a free package. Without platform restrictions and an influx of new players, Destiny 2 is positioned to grow even further in Year 3.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep releases September 17, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
