Five days may be all that remains until Destiny 2: Shadowkeep finally arrives, but anyone who has waited eagerly for something knows the last few days of waiting are always the worst. Fans are so close, and yet they still can’t get their hands on the new expansion and all of the changes coming to Destiny 2. But for the time being, at least, they can get a look at how the expansion’s beginning will play out.

Courtesy of IGN, fans hungry for more Destiny 2 now have a video showcasing Shadowkeep's opening mission, "A Mysterious Disturbance." At 11 minutes long, it doesn't show everything, nor does it really delve into the story, but it does give a pretty solid glimpse at the first bits of gameplay that players will be experiencing next week.

Set on the moon, the opening of Shadowkeep will see players taking their Guardians to confront Hive forces that have reappeared on the lunar surface, having emerged from the Scarlet Keep, the imposing and mysterious fortress at the heart of Shadowkeep's story. This story will mark an ambitious new storyline that will expand well beyond Shadowkeep and into Season 11 of Destiny 2 next year.

In the video, Guardians can be seen fighting back against the Hive at Zavala's request and pushing them back towards the Keep. This takes places across multiple phases with each new area throwing in new objectives that consist of capturing various points, utilizing relics, and destroying Hive structures with the Drake tank, which were teased in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep's launch trailer earlier this week.

Basically all of what’s shown is the prelude of the mission, with the footage cutting off right as the Guardians make their way to the Scarlet Keep’s entrance. Whatever secrets players will find beyond there, they will have to wait until October 1 to find out. But there is something in the way of Destiny 2 story teases for them to chew on, as dialogue between Ghost and Ikora suggests players will be crossing paths at some point during the mission with Eris Morn. The mysterious three-eyed figure has been missing-in-action since the start of Destiny 2, and it appears that she has business of her own with both the Hive and whatever is hiding in the Keep.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will be released on October 1 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Google Stadia version of Destiny 2 to follow.
