Bungie is set to fully unveil the next expansion for Destiny 2, Shadowkeep, shortly. But it's Google, as part of its special pre-E3 Stadia livestream, that gets to officially announce the expansion and show off Shadowkeep's very first trailer. The trailer teases what kind of enemies Guardians will find on the Moon, hints at a hidden evil, and reveals the return of fan-favorite character Eris Morn. But there's clearly much left to share about Destiny 2 and its future.

The Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion has now been officially confirmed, but the Google Stadia Connect event also confirmed something more. In addition to Shadowkeep, Bungie is developing another Annual Pass to follow up the expansion. No details are yet available on the Shadowkeep Annual Pass, but Bungie's if it's like Forsaken's there should be at least three quarterly DLC packs filled with both PvE and PvP content including raids, weapons, and new game modes.

There are some interesting things to read into after viewing the new Destiny 2: Shadowkeep trailer. The "Nightmares" that Eris are referencing appear to be bosses that Guardians have defeated in the past returning once more. Crota, Skolas, and Ghaul are all shown clearly. Something is bringing back Destiny's greatest villains. Picking up the Shadowkeep expansion will grant Guardians the privilege of putting those villains back down all over again.

Alongside the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep trailer reveal, Destiny 2 was also confirmed to be a part of Google Stadia's cloud gaming service. Destiny 2 players, new and old, will be able to use Google Stadia to play the game on any supported platform via cloud streaming no matter the hardware. That's possible for old Destiny 2 players because Bungie is implementing cross-saves, letting players transfer their progress between platforms. However, PS4 cross-save transfer support is notably absent at this time.

For more information on Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, turn into Bungie's own pre-E3 livestream event. The livestream starts at 10:00 am PT, which is just a matter of minutes away. Expect news on Shadowkeep, the Shadowkeep Annual Pass, and more about Bungie's post-Activision future.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Shadowkeep expansion is expected to release later this year across all platforms.
