Since the launch of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, Bungie shifted away from pinnacle weapons like the powerful submachine gun Recluse in favor of more attainable weapons sets each season. Starting with Season of the Undying, players could collect quests tied to each of the major game activities to unlock new ritual weapons. Reception seems to have been mostly mixed on the success of these weapons, with some being better than others, but Bungie is once again changing things with Season of the Worthy.

Season 10 kicked off today in Destiny 2 with another sizable update to the game's sandbox as well as plenty of new content for players to chase. After logging into the game, players have discovered ther absence of ritual weapons from Zavala, Drifter, and Shaxx. While the trio still have seasonal quests to work through, there are no longer any weapons to earn at the end of them like last season. Shaders and emblems remain in place, however.

The realization was quickly confirmed by community manager dmg04, who took to Twitter to shed a bit more light on the situation. Not only did dmg04 confirm the removal of Gambit, Strikes, and Crucible ritual weapons this season, Iron Banner is going to be the only mode to offer one this season. As expected, the Iron Banner ritual is the previously delayed bow called Point of the Stag that was expected to appear in game during Season of Dawn.

Naturally, the news has been met with disappointment from fans on social media. Many feel burned for not being informed of this decision ahead of time in one of Bungie's weekly updates, while others are less enthused about the only ritual weapon being the Iron Banner bow intended for last season. Some were hoping for a renewed and meaningful revamp to Strikes and Gambit this season, though it seems with this move, many believe that the value of running Strikes this season have taken another hit.

On the bright side, some are looking at the situation the other way, relieved that they'll no longer have to grind out Gambit matches this season.

With Season of the Worthy, Bungie has altered plenty of content as noted in its lengthy release notes from earlier today. Outside of a ton of exotic gear and weapon changes, the developer has also made a number of adjustments to subclasses, attempting to buff underused abilities while also bringing some of the stronger ones back in line like Handheld Supernova for Warlocks and the Weighted Knife for Hunters.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
